COMMUNION BREAKFAST – SUNDAY, OCTOBER 3
The 69th annual Communion Breakast will honor merit award recipients Tom Ashdown ’62 and Dr. John Bastulli ’72 . This award is given to someone who distinguishes himself in his chosen field of endeavor in a manner that brings renown to Cathedral Latin School.
The Class of 1970 and 1971 will also be honored on the occasion of their 50th anniversary. Since the event was cancelled last year, we are going to honor both classes. They are invited as our guests (no charge) to celebrate their golden jubilees and participate at the Mass.
Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 1007 Superior Avenue, Cleveland, OH. The breakfast and presentation of the award is at noon at the Crowne Plaza Cleveland at Playhouse Square, 1260 Euclid Avenue. A shuttle will be provided from the for those needing assistance to and from church.
Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for students (18 years & younger). Reservations can be made by credit card at www.clatin.com or checks made payable and mailed to Cathedral Latin Alumni, 5247 Wilson Mills Road PMB #175, Richmond Hts., OH 44143. Please RSVP by September 27.

During this pandemic, ensuring the health and safety of our alums is our top priority, so we’ve decided to reschedule our annual golf outing to Friday, September 10. Grantwood Golf Course, 38855 Aurora Road in Solon, Ohio will host our event. The driving range will be open at 8:30 a.m. followed by a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. Winking Lizard will serve delicious burgers and sausages at the turn, followed by a chicken and rib BBQ dinner. Due to new guidelines with social distancing, dinner will be served at the outdoor pavilion.
We will open the sale of 50/50 raffle tickets to all alums – not just the golfers. Last year we had a record number of tickets sold! Since it was so successful, we’ve decided to have multiple winners (not just one) split half the pot – so your chances are even better.
We are also looking for hole sponsors. For a cost of $125, we will place a purple and gold sign on the course. It’s a great way to advertise your name or company and it’s tax deductible. This event is our only fundraiser for the alumni association, so please consider a donation for hole sponsorship.
The cost is $125 per golfer, which includes driving range, golf with cart, lunch, dinner and beverages. If you would like to attend dinner only, the cost is $30.
We are not sure yet how many golfers Grantwood will allow at the outing. Last year, the maximum was 88 golfers. More info will follow as we get closer to the event.

The Cathedral Latin Alumni Association would like to make a meaningful impact at NDCL.
This is a video of the 1965/66 Cathedral Latin Marching Band at the annual Christmas Parade in downtown Cleveland, OH. They were considered one of the top bands in northeast Ohio. Among their many accomplishments, they were given the honor to play for President Lyndon B. Johnson and perform the Star Spangle Banner on opening day for the Cleveland Indians.
