Wrong Turn, which emulates the classic 70s and 80s movies like The Hills Have Eyes in nearly every way, chose not to include nudity in the film.
The Wrong Turn franchise, after its original installment, became known for intense violence, nudity, and other profane sequences, but the 2003 original lacked in all of this except for violence, which was particularly brutal.
Redneck cannibal movies, such as The Hills Have Eyes , are known for having brutal, violent kills and scenes of a sexual - and sometimes even nonconsensual sexual - nature. This is typical of slasher movies as well, which tend to be titillating in sexuality and nudity along with the standard fare of intense sequences of terror and violence. While this has lessened some in modern years, with films preferring to focus more on violence than nudity, as this sometimes makes ratings increase beyond what the filmmakers aspire (an R typically being most desirable), a film like Wrong Turn being entirely devoid of nudity and sexual content is a bit strange.
Though its sequels upped their quotas on both sexuality and violence, all of these released direct-to-video , which could have factored into their decision to go all-out instead of trying to focus on craft and restraint while still remaining true to the genre, as the first one did.
Wrong Turn making the choice to avoid nudity could have been for a few reasons. First, the MPAA was notorious for giving films a heavy-handed rating for excess, as was seen with films like Rob Zombie's House of 1000 Corpses , which had to cut approximately 40 minutes of footage that never got released in future iterations of the film. In the past, horror has been subjected to incredible scrutiny, even more so in the UK than in the US with the infamous "video nasty" craze that kept films from directors like Sam Raimi and Wes Craven in limbo for years.
Since Wrong Turn was already an incredibly violent film, it's possible 20th Century Fox, its distributor, didn't want to push their boundaries. Fox had invested in other major horror franchises in the past, including the Alien franchise, which went through the gamut with deleted scenes , content issues, and the inclusion of subtle sexuality didn't always fly with test audiences or the MPAA. Another reason for avoiding the nudity may have been Wrong Turn 's up-and-coming cast members, which included Eliza Dushku of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame and Emmanuelle Chriqui, who later had roles on The O.C. and Entourage .
Though never stated plainly as being a reason for the lack of nudity or sexuality, it's possible neither actress wanted to chance baring it all for the camera in a franchise that was untested in popularity and could have sunk their promising careers. This might have ultimately been a good decision on their part because, while the film wasn't wholly unsuccessful, it only made $28.7 million at the box office on a $12.6 million budget. An upcoming seventh installment, which is titled The Foundation , has started to create some buzz regarding a rejuvenation of the Wrong Turn franchise on the whole, so perhaps it will make another attempt at a theatrical release in the future.

Horror movies have a long tradition of throwing in some nudity to spice things up between the kill scenes, and here's the franchises that do it most.
Horror movies have a long tradition of throwing in some nudity to spice things up between the kill scenes, and here's the franchises that do it most. Regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation, lots of moviegoers enjoy a good nude scene, even if as a guilty pleasure. Sex sells, after all, and people do by and large enjoy it. While the subject can inspire laughs from some, if the actors involved are going sans clothes of their own free will, there's no real reason viewers should feel guilty for taking a peek.
Of the types of horror films, none is more closely associated with nudity and sex scenes then the slasher, which ruled the 1980s and has never entirely gone extinct. Today's slashers tend to offer nudity a lot less frequently, to the consternation of some, and the appreciation of those less inclined to see their horror take a turn for the sexy, and possibly sleazy side of the fence. Slashers from the golden era rarely hesitated to offer viewers eye candy though.
Thanks to a recent study done by the Hollywood nudity website Mr. Skin, we now have hard numbers on exactly which horror franchises include the most, ahem, bang for the viewer buck in that department. As one might imagine, vintage slasher series dominate the list. An important caveat to note before reading further is that, in the most technical sense, the 16(!)-movie long direct to video Witchcraft franchise boasts the most nakedness, but it's not being counted here, as it's a mix of "Skinemax"-style softcore porn and horror. Including it would be kind of a cheat, as it comes with a mandate for nudity.
The #1 entry on the list of horror franchises with the most nude scenes (barring Witchcraft ) likely won't surprise any lover of slasher flicks. Friday the 13th is arguably the horror series most closely associated with nudity and sex by the general moviegoing audience. Contrary to popular belief though, it's not always actresses that end up naked onscreen in Jason Voorhees' movies, as the series also features multiple instances of male nudity. Really, that's only fair, as everyone deserves something to gaze at.
Taking #2 behind Friday the 13th is Hellraiser, also not really surprising, as any Clive Barker fan knows full well that he loves to weave lurid, sometimes torturous sex into his tales of horror. A more surprising #3 is the Wrong Turn franchise, which has spent most of its life direct to video. For some reason, backwoods cannibalism and sex scenes seem to go hand in hand. From there is Piranha, which Mr. Skin is considering five films, combining the 1970s originals with the more recent reboots. It's logical that five movies on the water would feature some skinny-dipping.
The other five entries on Mr. Skin's horror nudity list are Eli Roth's Hostel series, the relentlessly sleazy Silent Night, Deadly Night franchise, original slasher franchise Halloween, the progressively sleazier Amityville series, and the A Nightmare on Elm Street films. Yep, at least when it comes to nudity, Jason clearly emerges victorious over Freddy Krueger. Considering the aforementioned current trend of mostly avoiding nudity and sex in modern horror though, one wonders if this list will ever change.

Horror flick about a group of young people who take a wrong turn and find themselves trapped and hunted in the West Virginia wilderness. That's when they start disappearing and dying in extremely gruesome ways. With Eliza Dushku, Jeremy Sisto, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Desmond Harrington and Lindy Booth. Directed by Rob Schmidt. [1:30]
SEX/NUDITY 3 - A woman tells a man to drop his pants and we see his boxers as she kneels down in front of him. A man and a woman kiss a few times and a man and a woman hug. Women wear outfits that reveal bare shoulders, cleavage, bare abdomens and bare thighs.

VIOLENCE/GORE 10 - Many people are murdered in various gruesome ways by three men who are apparently genetic mutations with both physical deformities and various psychoses (they have deformed faces and bodies and we see them in detail in several scenes). There are some very tense moments when the killers come back to a cabin and four potential victims are unable to escape: they watch as a dead victim is slammed onto a table, and she's hacked and cut up (we hear the hacking, sawing, crunching and tearing); blood pours from her hand and off the table and we see the mutilated and bloody body with missing limbs several times. A woman is hit in the mouth with an axe; it severs her head leaving the lower part of her body to fall away and we hear a squish as the axe is removed from the remaining part of her head. A woman is grabbed around the mouth with barbed wire that tears into her flesh; she writhes and screams, we see her later still with barbed wire around her mouth and blood pours from her wounds. A man is shot through the eye with an arrow and falls to the ground dead (we see blood on his eye and the back of his head where the arrow exited), he's dragged and put on a table and we see his killer hacking at his neck with a hatchet. A cabin doorway bursts into flames, a car drives through the door, a man inside the cabin catches fire, another man hits him and stabs him in the chest (we hear a crunch). A man is hit with a hatchet in the chest while being held with a wire around his neck, and another is shot with an arrow in the back after he throws another man and holds him by the throat against a wall. A man shoots the gas tank of a car and it explodes along with a cabin (we see the charred and bloody remains of a body later). A man and a woman climb a rock wall, the man reaches the top, we hear slashing noises, he slumps against the edge of the wall, blood pours from his hand and he is thrown over the side; the woman dangling from a rope struggles to cut it, she is pulled up, cuts the rope and falls landing next to the dead man (we see blood on his head and face). A woman trips over a wire, is pulled back off screen and we hear her scream. We see a pile of blood-covered knives, then a woman lying dead on a table and a disfigured and discolored hand opens her mouth. A man threatens a woman on a tree limb with knives, and he is hit hard in the chest with a tree limb, falls and hits the ground hard. A woman goes into woods to look for her companion: she finds his sneaker and one of his ears. A man is shot in the back three times with arrows (the last one pokes through to the front and blood soaks his shirt), and a man is shot in the leg (we see bloody wound). A charred man raises a hatchet over a man and yells. A hatchet nearly hits a man in the head, he is punched and thrown over a ridge. More people are shot at with arrows. Four people go into a cabin and poke around: They find refrigerators with jars containing body parts and organs, a dismembered hand floats in a tub filled with liquid and jars in a bathroom are filled with teeth. Furthermore, a toilet is stained and filthy, tools and weapons lie around, and flies buzz around old food on a table. A watchtower is set on fire and it fills with smoke and flames; the three people inside jump into a tree slamming into it and nearly falling. A truck door is opened and a dead body falls out with blood on his head and shirt. We see some dead animals along a road, some of which are very bloody. A car crashes into a parked car (no one is injured). A woman is tied to a bed with a rope over her mouth, she screams as a man approaches her, touches her face and drags a knife across her throat. A man's hand is squished in a hatch door. A man with many missing teeth and covered with grime is seen a couple of times. Four people try to sneak out of a cabin while three killers are sleeping, they trip over things, knock into things making noise and one grabs the spring on a door as it is opens to keep it from squeaking (his hand bleeds). We see a clearing filled with cars and belongings stained and smeared with blood. Three people climb a very tall watchtower ladder. A trap clamps shut and flies into the air when a man's walking stick touches it. A woman screams uncontrollably as she watches her fiancé being murdered. A man hangs from the undercarriage of a car as it drives away. A man trips and falls against a guardrail over a high, sheer drop off (he pretends to nearly fall over). We hear about a jack-knifed tractor-trailer and that it is spilling chemicals on a roadway.
