Wrexham Secures Dramatic Late Win Over Burton in Pre-Season Thriller

WREXHAM, UK – In a thrilling pre-season encounter at the Racecourse Ground, Wrexham AFC snatched a dramatic 3-2 victory over Burton Albion, thanks to a last-minute winner from star striker Paul Mullin.

The match, played in front of a near-capacity crowd, was a rollercoaster of emotions as both teams traded blows in an end-to-end contest. Burton took an early lead through striker Cole Stockton, who capitalized on a defensive mix-up to slot home in the 12th minute. Wrexham responded just before halftime when Mullin converted a penalty after Elliot Lee was brought down in the box.

The second half saw Burton regain the lead via a stunning strike from midfielder Joe Powell, but Wrexham’s resilience shone through. Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson praised his team’s fighting spirit, saying, 'It’s exactly the kind of test we needed. Burton are a strong League One side, and to come back twice shows the character in this squad.'

Burton boss Martin Paterson rued missed opportunities but remained optimistic: 'Plenty of positives, but we’ve got to manage games better. Credit to Wrexham—they never gave up.'
