Changelog
Patch: 9.2.7

General Recommended level 60 with item level 200 for all non listed dungeons
The first two bosses could be completed with the general suggested item level 200 , however Lord Stormsong requires very high burst (15k dps in 19 seconds) to defeat the boss before Ancient Mindbender is cast, or it will reset.
In general, an item level: 200 is enough to be able to solo most noteworthy bosses such as HK-8 Aerial Oppression Unit and K.U.-J.0. . However, King Gobbamak can be quite challenging, so having item level 220 for it might be better.
Uldir and Battle of Dazar'alor have a few bosses that can be soloed on LFR and Normal with item level 240, however the raids are mostly considered unsoloable .
Normal and Heroic difficulties of earlier raids such as Uldir , Battle of Dazar'alor , Crucible of Storms and The Eternal Palace should be possible with a party, however a raid group is suggested for mythic difficulties.
Normal and Heroic Ny'alotha, the Waking City is a bit harder than the earlier raids, and a small raid group is suggested. A full raid group is suggested for mythic.
General Recommended Solo Level/ Item level for all dungeons: level 50+ with item level 70 .
Nythendra : If you do not have enough dps to kill the boss before Infested Mind happens, the boss will reset, so a level 60 is suggested for mythic.
Trial of Valor LFR/ Normal/ Heroic: Recommended level 50+ with item level 100 Mythic: Recommended level 60 with item level 200
The Nighthold LFR/ Normal: Recommended level 50+ with item level 100 Heroic: Recommended level 60 with item level 120 Mythic: Recommended level 60 with item level 220
Heroic The Nighthold is where the fights become a little bit more difficult, and from here onwards it is suggested to use a level 60 when soloing content.
Tomb of Sargeras LFR/ Normal/ Heroic: Recommended level 60 with item level 200 Mythic: Recommended level 60 with item level 235
Goroth and Harjatan may be difficult without self healing/ immunities.
Fallen Avatar and Kil'jaeden can be quite difficult to solo if not done correctly. A guide for defeating them both can be found here.
Antorus, the Burning Throne LFR/ Normal/ Heroic: Recommended level 60 with item level 200 . Mythic: Recommended Level 60 with item level 225
Essence of Eonar is now possible to solo. A detailed guide and video can be found here.
The earlier bosses of Antorus can be defeated with a lower item level, but the later bosses like Aggramar and Argus the Unmaker can be a bit more difficult. Classes without strong self healing may find they need higher item level/ stronger conduits before successfully defeating these bosses.
General Recommended Solo Level/ Item level for all dungeons: level 50+ with item level 70 .
General Recommended Solo Level/ Item level for all raids: level 50+ with item level 70 .
General Recommended Solo Level/ Item level for all dungeons: level 50+ with item level 50 .
General Recommended Solo Level/ Item level for all raids: level 50+ with item level 50 .
General Recommended Solo Level/ Item level for all dungeons: level 45+ with item level 45 .
General Recommended Solo Level/ Item level for all raids: level 45+ with item level 45.

One of the most frequent questions to come up on the WoW forums is “which class is the best for soloing?” There are many answers to this question, but in my personal experience I’ve found four classes that absolutely excel at solo play. Anyone who likes to be able to play alone and still level at a decent speed while earning some gold and being able to check out a lot of what World of Warcraft has to offer would do well to check out any of these classes.
Hunters tend to be a solitary lot. They’re not typically much desired for groups and tend to finish quests and level up much faster on their own. The secret to a hunter’s success is the faithful companion that follows them wherever they go, their pet.
A hunter takes his group with him wherever he goes. His tank is right there at his heels, ready to throw itself into a fight with a group of higher-level mobs on his master’s whim. As a hunter, your loyal buddy soaks up all the damage while you stay back and pick off targets with your gun or bow.
Downtime is practically a non-issue for a hunter. Yes, a hunter’s attacks do require mana, but rarely enough to cause him to have to sit down and drink between fights. A hunter’s pet will need some healing from time to time as well, but between Mend Pet and First Aid , pet downtime is very minimal as well.
Leveling quickly is definitely awesome, but the problem with playing a hunter is that once you hit max level, you’re going to find it difficult to get into groups. Other DPS classes are far more desirable so unless you’re part of a good guild that likes you, you can plan on soloing for pretty much all of your WoW character’s life.
Like a hunter, a warlock’s pet makes soloing a lot easier, but not for the same reasons. At lower levels, a warlock can use his pet similarly to a hunter pet, soaking up damage and holding mobs’ attention while he throws DOTs and life drains from afar. After level 40, however, an Affliction warlock’s pet becomes a fast-replenishing mana battery thanks to Dark Pact .
Warlocks are all-around great soloers, but those who spec Affliction will find their downtime reduced to practically nothing with Dark Pact. Pet mana regenerates at an incredibly fast pace, and with this ability you can simply transfer mana from your pet to yourself at any time.
Of course, a warlock of any spec has the advantage of Life Tap , as well. For a warlock in World of Warcraft, health is mana. As long as you’re alive, you can keep casting spells. With life tap, you simply convert your remaining health into mana and keep right on casting spells. When your health gets low, you can use Drain Life on a mob to replenish it.
Thanks to these amazing mana replenishing abilities, downtime becomes a non-issue. Add in the fact that warlocks do an amazing amount of damage with their damage over time spells and can typically Drain Life faster than mobs can damage them, and you’ve got the makings of one outstanding solo class.
Druids are an amazing solo class because of their ability to adapt to any situation. A druid is a rogue, tank, and a healer all rolled into one.
In cat form, a druid is nearly as effective as a rogue at rapidly dealing melee DPS. The advantage to a druid, however, is that afterward you can simply pop back into caster form, fire off a couple HOTs on yourself, then shift back into cat, stealth, and go right on killing. Add in the fact that as a druid you also have the ability to buff your own stats and throw up a damage shield, and you’re pretty much an unstoppable killing machine.
The survivability of a druid is amazing, as well. Accidentally pull more mobs than you intended? Simply shift into bear form and tank them nearly as well as a warrior, only with the option of quickly shifting form and healing yourself. If you’re still in over your head, you can always shift into cat form and sprint away.
Feral spec is the way to go for soloing, though with the recent addition of dual specializations to World of Warcraft, you can always maintain a secondary resto spec for healing duties.
My personal favorite solo class is only available to those who have already reached level 55 with at least one character, but the death knight is just about the most versatile solo class in the game. Any class would be hard pressed to match the death knight’s leveling speed from level 55 to level 80 .
A death knight is a plate-wearing, self-healing, non mana-dependent, pet class. Basically, a DK regens energy to use abilities like a rogue, can absorb damage like a warrior, heals himself almost as well as a druid while in combat, and has a pet capable of off-tanking large pulls. Oh, and I nearly forgot, an unholy DK can AoE groups of mobs quite effectively, as well. All of this wrapped up in one single character.
It’s no wonder DKs are called a hero class. They are very difficult to stop. My DK is especially good at running lower-level instances. Strat Baron runs typically take somewhere around 10 minutes, even with the occasional over pull or accidental aggro.
Anyone with a character over level 55 interested in becoming an unstoppable solo machine should definitely look into creating a death knight. They are a ton of fun and incredibly capable in all sorts of PvE and PvP situations.
Players are always looking for the so-called “best” solo class in World of Warcraft. While I personally feel that there is no one class that excels in every possible situation, any player who wants to be a competent solo artist would do well to create a hunter, warlock, druid, or death knight.
Take a look at this article series for some basics on the best classes for various methods of play.

Changelog
Patch: 7.3.5

there is little preparation needed and few adaptations to talents or gear
the chance of dying or failure is low
the number of tries required is small - it shouldn't take more than a few hours
Mionee is probably the most famous extreme soloer in the community
The challenge. People climb mountains because they are there, and players solo because it's challenging content. If you think you're bored with your character, then soloing can present a new challenges by adding a new dimension to the game, like PvP or pet battles.
Better understanding of your class. Once you can't blame the healer or the rest of the party, you will learn the limits and mechanics of your class as never before, by using different sets of talents and gear as you focus on both defence and offence.
Better understanding of game mechanics. How are the abilities coded, and what changes when only one player is present? Having to deal with every ability helps you to learn how to survive or avoid them. It also helps to explore general principles - how the game defines a tank, or when and how abilities choose a target.
Quality of life outside soloing. If his party is wiping on a dungeon boss, a soloer can equip his soloing gear and solo the last 20% of a boss once the rest of the party is dead. I'll always remember 2-manning Harbaron +15 Tyrannical because all the others kept dying to the scythes.
Recognition and community interaction. If you solo a new boss or dungeon for your class, don't hesitate to record and publish it. And even if it's nothing impressive, let's say an old raid transmogrification run, but there is no guide, why not share with the community? It will be appreciated.
A very nice rogue writing a very nice guide for his fellow players
I was able to solo this as with gear on . Here is how I did it:
MrNinjaBurger's Youtube Channel, where he solos things with a variety of classes
Soloing easy dungeons or raids for profit is fun, extreme soloing is even more fun!
The soloing community is spread out, but you can still contribute.
When soloing, analyzing the mechanics is key. Timings, combos and trigger conditions are usually more complex then they seem at first glance.
Soloing is a mix of survival and damage.
Different specs have different soloing potential. But they all have many tools at their disposal.
Making use of every tool you have including talents, gear, consumables, legendaries and more is the key to getting a new kill.

I have been considering getting into WoW but I’d primarily be a solo player and don’t know if end game content would be accessible for me. I have leveled a character in the starter edition to level 14 or so and it was fun I just don’t know if the endgame stuff will be accessible for someone like me.
Does that mean you will not do anything that requires other people? If so you can only do world quests and horrific visions for gear at 120 nothing else. Edit: if you just don't want to talk to anyone, you can still use dungeon/raid finder/battlegrounds, and just pretend you are playing alone :)
The game is completely soloable. I’ve had my share of solo fun in wow over the last decade. It was hard up until around MoP but you can see majority of the content as a solo player. Please note that I considering dungeon finder, raid finder solo content. Since to me the other people that join are NPC’s.
I gotta say that while playing the content with other people can be fun, it just simply doesn’t fit my life style. Even during these times I rather play solo then with a group.
This is where you are wrong. I played WoW for many months, mostly alone, did only story quests. Above 70 lvl, literally every quest is made for group and completely impossible for one player to accomplish. Once quests pointed me to kill some huge dragon in Outland(i guess it was on Hellfire Peninsula) and it mop the floor with me, no matter what i did, how i fought it. The WoW devs made sure that people WILL NOT play this game solo. At least not on higher levels.
If you want to experience end-game content of expansions past, absolutely you can do this as a single player. You will miss out on the challenge because you'll typically have to be 10 or more levels higher and geared into an expansion higher than the content you are attempting. Most dungeon and raid mechanics are designed and tuned for teams of players so you'll be bypassing almost all of that by killing bosses before the mechanics kick in or simply being immune to them because you're a higher level than the boss. That said, you can still enter, explore and complete all of that content and there is 14+ years of it.
There are lots of item appearances you can collect from dungeon/raid loot and collecting it all is a form of end-game content open to anyone playing solo, accepting the limitation of not being able to access current content. But there are multiple things to collect up to and including current content for solo players. There are a huge number of mounts, pets, achievements, world events and world/quest item appearances that do not require a group to obtain.
There is also the Looking For Group/Raid tool. These let you queue up for end game content such as normal and heroic dungeons and the LFR difficulty raids. You don't 'need' to be in a guild or group to just experience the dungeons or raids but your experience will vary from random group to group. This system will also let you join in other world/dungeon event instanced content. Time-walking dungeon events that send teams of 5 players through the dungeons of a previous expansion but scale their level and gear to be a close approximation of what it was at the time are example of one of these events.
So, yes, you can access and enjoy a huge amount of content in WoW without having to be in a guild or group. But, the game does open up further if you are. There are loads of social and relaxed guilds out there that have no specific requirements or demands of players. Joining one can be the way to get more out of the game, for some it is how to get the most out of the game. Use the guild finder tool to search around and see if you can find a community that seems to a good fit and take it from there.
I played WoW years ago, solo only. I'd been playing for couple of years, and it had been big fun for me. However, I leveled to max level 60 (twice, with two different characters) and then I had to quit, because another progress was possible only through a major group raid. Everybody had to go through it those times… I tried a couple of raids with random groups several times and it was really bad experience, I didn't know what to do while the others expected exact steps, strategy knowledg and specific behavior from me. I was lost soon, felt embarassed, humiliated and didn't want to exper
