Today it means a group of people who only commit criminal acts and these gang groups want people to take their name with a terrifying fear. Now, the term gang can only be associated with notorious things. From a robbery to the extortion, intimidation, vandalism, assault, drug, trafficking, bribing and blackmailing politicians, running prostitutions and gambling operations, stabbings, shootings, open murders, and massacres, these gangs indulge themselves in every illegal activity.
Homicides committed by gangsters are a monumental problem in every society of every country. The youths, who are the backbone of a country to combat with a problem, are the ones drawn to the gang life the most. Probably these youths are just blown away by the power and money they get as a gangster. The gangster life seems them so tempting that they’re even ready to cut off with their families. I’m no expert or even well read in this subject but considering your title asserts “in the world”, it seems your article is largely biased towards american street gangs and more specifically the west coast.
It doesn’t seem like you are alone either, if I google “worlds most powerful gangs” most of the hits are articles focusing on american gangs. Maybe it’s right, maybe gangs in the US are the most powerful in the world but I cant help think that Russian organised crime, with hundreds of thousands of members, global influence and close, senior political ties to one of the worlds most powerful countries must be more powerful and influential than the “Crips”. Like I said, not my area of expertise.

The inaccuracy of this list is hysterical. First off, I don’t know much about the Cosa Nostra and the Camora, so I’m not going to weight in on how much power they hold or how big they are (in 2018), but I would like to say that the United States Intelligence Community considers the Sinaloa Cartel, the most powerful drug trafficking organization on the planet. I’ll come back to that later. Did you really put Bloods and Crips on this list? Unreal. First of, neither are A GANG, There’s 100’s of different Crips gangs and 100’s of different Blood gangs, at least here in Southern California (where I reside). If you’re gonna refer to the Bloods and the Crips as 1 gang, respectively, then you should also include the Sureños on this list. And everybody knows the Sureños en LA and are MUCH BIGGER than the Bloods and Crips… COMBINED. Neither the Bloods or Crips can match the Surenos, it’s not close. They actually have to team up, and entrsn like that the Sureños seem to be much greater and seem overpower them. 18th Street also being on the list and not the Sureños is laughable as well. The Sureños would annihilate 18th St. Even though Sureños aren’t 1 gang in particular, rather a huge group of loosely affiliated gangs who pay tribute to the Mexican Mafia, you did include the Bloods and Crips on this list. Speaking of the Mexican Mafia (La eMe), them NOT being on this list is another reason why you just can’t take this list seriously. In the penitentiary they control both 18th Steet and MS-13, yet they’re not on this list and the 2 gangs are LOL. Not to mention, La eMe controls ALL Sureños as well. Also, not bringing the gabr that the eMe is actually much more powerful and bigger than the AB. The Arysn Brotherhood actually used to do the Mexican Mafia’s dirty work and carry out hits for them (I don’t know about now), so to not only put the AB before La eMe, but to entirely leave the Mexican Mafia out of this list is comical. Now back to the cartels. El Chapo is now behind bars and I know their power has taken a big hit, but I doubt anybody can touch the Mexican cartels. Right now in Mexico, the CJNG (Jalisco New Generation Cartel) has risen to power, and are now Sinaloa’s biggest threat. Los Zetas were powerful several years ago, and were standing their ground vs El Chapo’s cartel, but have now fallen. I wouldn’t even consider them in the top 3 of Mexican Drug cartels (I know the Sinaloa and the CJNG, as of 2018, are much bigger), yet they’re the only cartel on the list LOL. What’s funnier is you put the goddamn Aryan Brotherhood in before them HAHAHA really??? A white prison gang bigger than a cartel?? Laughable. Also the Latin Kings? Give me a break. If anything the Latin Kings work for Mexican cartels.
