For Leah Dufour , a 19 year old McGill student, from Montreal, partying will never be the same after she attended her first ever Masturbate-a-thon last month, where girls and guys get together and rub one out.
"I've been to countless clubs and countless dance parties," says the young woman, "but Wankfest is the only masturbation party I've been to, and it was by far the friendliest, most accepting and enjoyable event I've ever attended."

"We started throwing masturbation parties in solidarity with Joycelyn," says Phineas Hendrix, the owner of San Francisco's legendary four story Sexy Adult Fun Time Toyshop. "It's outrageous that an eminent doctor like Joycelyn lost her job just for suggesting that it was okay for teenagers to engage in normal human behaviour. Conservatives are hellbent on making people feel ashamed about their sexuality, so we decided to fight back. We wanted to let people know that masturbation isn't deviant behaviour, that it isn't bad for you, and that it doesn't make you a bad person for enjoying it."

Now to round the week off, we've been introduced to Wankfest. A masturbation party held in Montreal, Canada, it's designed to make people feel more comfortable about, well, masturbating. We're not usually shocked here at Cosmo HQ, but this certainly made us put down our morning biscuit to find out more.
The parties, attended by both guys and girls, were actually started back in the USA in 1994. According to 19 year-old student, Leah Dufour, who attended the latest, it was "by far the friendliest, most accepting and enjoyable event" she's ever had the pleasure of going to. Literally.
Despite feeling hesitant about turning up to an event where everyone would be fiddling with their bits (perhaps with the assistant of Happy Playtime?), Leah said that the party made her realise self pleasure isn't that bad after all. Did anyone ever think it was?
But the issue of safety at the parties has been questioned by some. The organisers admit that girls usually worry that they'll be pestered by a creepy guy, or two, but apparently not at Wankfest. According to Leah, partying in Montreal can come with a few risks. "No matter where you go, there's always going to be some desperate perverts hitting on you, or trying to get in your pants," said the 19 year- old. "I didn't have any hitting on me, I didn't have anyone say anything inappropriate. The men at Wankfest were better behaved than any of the men I've ever met while clubbing or partying."
In case anything inappropriate DOES happen, organiser Dorothy Parker has made sure that there are explicit rules which are strictly enforced to make sure everyone relaxes and enjoys themselves. They even have room monitors to keep a close eye on all goings on.
