Why's the Woman Spread become so hot?

By moving their legs apart (and therefore away from the camera) the stars give an illusion of having thinner thighs.
It's a power stance, because you're taking up space, but can also be sexy and slightly suggestive.
The main argument against manspreading is that the bloke is taking up as much space as possible, in order to assert authority and undermine those around him.
The pose is also pretending to be casual, which as we all know is a celeb's favourite social media stance, but can look a bit contrived in this case.

CELEBS absolutely love acting candid on Instagram - but there's nothing natural about these staged poses.
Dozens of stars have been recreating the same bizarre sitting posture in recent weeks, and you've probably already seen it on your Instagram news feed.
Everyone from Love Island's Megan Barton Hanson to Khloe Kardashian has been perfecting the sit - which we're going to call Woman Spreading.
Yep these stars have no right to moan that the bloke next to them on the train is taking up too much space - if they do ever to take public transport, that is.
Khloe is far from the only member of the Kardashian klan adopting the risque pose.
Her sisters Kourtney, Kim and Kylie Jenner have also been getting in on the action - with youngest sis Kylie even employing the pose for their infamous Victoria's Secret shoot at Halloween.
The Love Island ladies are big fans too, with Olivia Attwood, Zara McDermott, Gabby Allen, Kaz Crossley and Amber Davies all getting involved.
Zara even stripped off to her bikini for her poolside 'spread snap'.
Heading north, Geordie Shore lasses Charlotte Crosby and Sophie Kasaei also love the pose.
To pull it off, simply spread your legs and either tuck one leg under, in a half crossed shape, or raise your knee and perch your elbow on your leg.
Just please don't attempt it in a dress or skirt...

In their bid for continued relevance, Western feminists love to complain about a variety of innocuous habits - especially, it seems, if they're committed by men.
From 'mansplaining' to so-called manspreading, their vilification of innocent blokes is virtually endless.
Yet, despite their righteousness, it seems the sisterhood need to look a little closer to home before dishing out criticisms of the opposite sex. Especially when it comes to public transport.
That's because a series of images captured across the globe's public transport networks show numerous women committing a carriage-sized cardinal sin: spreading arms, legs and luggage in a selfish bid for space.
From New York to London, some of the world's busiest commuter trains have offered a reality-check for Generation Snowflake.
