Despite the fact that this silly thing makes our baby look a bit like Uncle Fester, he seems to really like it. Does he magically sleep for longer stretches? No, but he has done his best sleeping in the Woombie, which could either be related to the Woombie itself or to whatever magic algorithm determines baby sleep patterns for the night. But best of all, he can't bust out of it - at least, not yet. I keep expecting him to bust a hand through the neckline with Hulk-like strength, but so far, the Woombie has contained his wayward limbs whilst allowing him to do the hand-clasping that he so desperately desires. Our kid was a swaddle-buster from day one. Perhaps it has been a futile battle to keep him swaddled, as he busted out of the womb itself a full month early, yet we persevered. Any type of swaddle blanket on its own was a definite no-go, even when he was under six pounds. Clearly, some sort of Velcro swaddle blanket would do the trick, yet we were dismayed to find out that he was too small for them. By chance, I stumbled upon the Summer Infant SwaddlePod, which is essentially the same thing as the Woombie, but tiny and made for small newborns. The SwaddlePod kept the tiny baby arms contained, so it quickly became our favorite thing ever and everybody was happy. Our baby liked to clasp his hands together inside the SwaddlePod and slept with his hands up near his face instead of down by his sides. For a while, the SwaddlePod worked perfectly and everyone loved it...but after a few weeks of hard work, he succeeded in stretching out the necks on all of his SwaddlePods and was able to bust an arm out. Since he seemed to like sleeping with an arm out, this was initially Ok with us, but as this accomplishment was quickly followed by his outgrowing the SwaddlePods, we sadly retired them. Next, we tried the Summer Infant SwaddleMe. It was like the love child of a SwaddlePod and a straight jacket and kept our persistent swaddle-buster wrapped up, so we liked it at first. After a while, however, a combination of baby strengthening and Velcro weakening resulted in one or more arms regularly busting out and by this point, he had discovered that hands can be placed into ones mouth and loudly sucked, waking us up and scaring the cat. This would not do at all. As he was close to outgrowing the size small SwaddleMe, we naively purchased the larger size, thinking that more room to wiggle and new Velcro would solve the problem. Oh no, the new, roomier version did not even pose a challenge - he had an arm out within seconds and by this time, he had learned to laugh and busting out soon became a game to him. We tried not swaddling, which resulted in a very awake half a night before we gave it up - his startle reflex was still strong enough that some form of swaddle seriously helped him sleep. Tried the Halo SwaddleSack and he spent half the night grunting to himself as he worked to bust himself out, ending up bunching the material around his head rather than busting an arm out from the top. Same thing happened with the Summer Infant WrapSack. Tried the Miracle Blanket and he HATED it - that did not last long. Briefly considered DIYing some sort of solution with duct tape (just kidding). Finally realizing that there were a few of our dollars left that we hadn't yet spent on baby sleep products, we decided to try the Woombie. It works fine...for now. It's just like the SwaddlePod that we loved so much, but appropriately sized for a larger baby. I'm sure he'll eventually stretch out the neck enough to bust out an arm, but we've been using this thing for a couple of weeks and the neck seems pretty unstretched, so perhaps it's built with some sort of neck-stretch immunity. Or he's content that he can put his hands together and/or get them into his mouth (through cloth, which thankfully muffles the obnoxiously loud sucking that would otherwise occur and scare the cat). In any case, he hasn't busted out of the thing yet and he sleeps well in it, so we'll call it a win. To sum it all up, from the perspective of the parents of a persistent swaddle-buster, if your baby sounds like this and you haven't yet tried the Woombie, you might as well give it a try. It's not a traditional swaddle, so if nothing else, maybe it will distract your baby from spending the entire night struggling against it and everyone will get some rest. UPDATE: Two months later, we still love the Woombie. There's no way out of it except through the neck and despite my initial skepticism, it was more than two months before he managed to stretch the neck enough to bust out an arm. Washing and drying it on hot brought it back to its normal size, but he's stretched it out again after just a couple nights...so we are now purchasing our second Woombie, one with the convertible arm holes so that we'll be able to use it when we transition him out of the swaddle. He is 5 months now, so we're sure our swaddling days are numbered, but he sleeps so well in the Woombie that we're going to keep him it it as long as possible. This has been one of the best baby purchases that we've made...and we've bought a ton of baby stuff!

Yes!! The hilarious review about the swaddle buster who scared the cat resonated with me 100% so I decided to give this thing a shot. Hell yes. We got it yesterday, so I’ll update this if my opinion changes but if there’s no update then we still love it. This thing is like an on/off switch for our little swaddle Houdini. Zip him up in it and he’s asleep in minutes. Unzip it and he wakes up almost immediately. He woke up three times during his nap, grunted as he fought to get his arms out, and then gave up and went back to sleep. All totaled, it was about 1 min each time that he fought before submitting to the power of the Woombie. #winning When he’s legit awake, though, he cries immediately to be let out. Personally, I’m okay with this. We love it and bought two extras. If you have a Houdini like we do... try it!!

After many people suggesting this swaddle we decided to give it a try. We use the owlet smart sock at night as well, and on the first night with the woombie our smart sock alarm went of twice notifying us that our baby’s heart rate and oxygen levels dropped. Normal heart rate is anywhere around 130-150 and her heart rate dropped all the way down to 59!!! The woombie was basically strangling her. The size was 5-13 lbs and she’s 6 pounds. Her positioning was correct and all. I would NOT recommend this product!

THE BEST SWADDLE EVER! This saved me and my husband when our little guy was just a week or two old. No other swaddles worked.. he broke out of all of them. 3am trying to fold the muslin blankets just right or get the Velcro swaddles to work only to have his hands coming up 2 seconds later. The Woombie was a game changer! He could move his hands or arms around but was still confined nicely. It was easy to change a diaper in the middle of the night with bottom zipper. I believe it helped him sleep better. Now my guy is almost 5 months old and I just ordered our second convertible Woombie. Love these swaddles so much!

This swaddle is so wonderful!! We bought the smallest size for our son, and we will be buying two of the next size up when he grows out of this one (which will be soon!) He does really well when he can put his hands on his chest to sleep instead of at his sides and this swaddle allows him that limited movement while still calming the Moro reflex, which helps him sleep longer!

My little one was a pretty small baby when she was born. All the swaddles had weight requirements of 7-8 pounds to get one and she was 6. It was getting annoying waking up for feedings and have to swaddle her twice because she would escape one blanket swaddles. This helped a lot keep her hands contained and actually sleep during the night. Yes she can get her hands out and touch her face but I don’t mind, it’s not her entire arm. She even loves the swaddle and I’m sad she’s starting to grow out of it! It’s super soft, it keeps her quite warm. Easy for midnight changing with bottom zipper access. Very worth it, keeps parents happy and baby happy!

My three month old started waking up multiple times during naps and nighttime. I would swaddle him, and 20 minutes later he would be uncovered. He would toss his head from side to side when I laid him down. He also startled extremely easily. I went online and started researching wraps. The Woombie had excellent reviews. There's a reason it has excellent reviews......because its AMAZING. From the very first night, my little fella has slept soundly, without waking up. After two weeks, we are up to sleeping 4-5 hours at a time. The Woombie fits snug from the waist up, but has quite a bit of room in the leg area. It really is an exceptional product. It's soft and the zipper seems heavy duty. I highly recommend The Woombie.

This was the magic cure for a fussy baby who wasn't able to find sleep! I loved the lightweight (but warm) fabric, and the zipper went right up to his neck without too much of a gap. We tried other zippered swaddles, but the neckline always stretched and he'd get his hands out every time. I would give this 10 stars if possible--buy it!

Great for restless baby

The woombie is amazing! My little boy goes down in his cot & sleeps 8-10 hours straight. He's 10 weeks old & been using the woombie for 4 weeks. Before this he would bring his hands to his face & wake himself up after ten minutes sleeping so we were constantly having to pick him back up again, soothe him and put him back down. With the woombie he goes into his cot & sleeps soundly. It's made bedtime much more pleasant!

Worth trying.

At 7 weeks old my baby is 60cm long and the Woombie is a great fit. It's great for the cold nights because it's keeping the body warm - the fabric is thick, stretchy and not 100% cotton. It makes the baby too hot in the summer, which is not a good thing. It's not designed for babies who like to sleep with their arms up. A big flaw with the design is the outer seam - the baby chews on it when it comes in contact with the face as it's both irritating and distracting from sleep. At first the baby felt traped and vigorously tried to get out of it but with time got used to the feeling. I would have given it 5 stars if it the legs were separated and if the zipper had a sewn-in chin protection instead of the flap and a clasp.
