A man who filmed himself performing sex acts on and with a friend's dog while high on the drug ice has expressed his remorse and embarrassment.
Anthony Dennis Stokes, 51, narrowly escaped further jail time after he pleaded guilty to one count of committing bestiality in Adelaide District Court on Thursday.
The offence took place in 2019 while Stokes was staying at the home of a female friend, the court heard.
Months later, the woman discovered an SD card in her new home she did not recognise and found horrifying footage of Stokes engaging in a sexual act with her dog.
The court heard the video showed Stokes touching the dog's genitalia and encouraging the dog to lick his own.
The 'distressed and sickened' dog's owner alerted police, who arrested Stokes in November 2020.

The court heard Stokes had recently lost his job prior to the offence and was 'significantly' under the influence of ice the time, NCA NewsWire reported.
'You did something that you would not, without the drugs, ever have contemplated doing,' Judge Timothy Heffernan told him.
'That you were under the influence of methylamphetamine does not excuse your conduct, it does not make it any less serious a breach of the law than it is, but it does perhaps explain what would otherwise be unfathomable behaviour on your part.'
The judge noted Stokes had been profoundly ashamed and embarrassed by his actions since his first court appearance and that there was no evidence of any distress or pain inflicted on the dog during the offence.
The court heard Stokes had recently lost his job prior to the offence and was high on ice at the time of the incident (stock image of man using ice)
Judge Heffernan was satisfied Stokes wasn't motivated by any genuine sexual attraction to the dog and that the offence occurred because he was high on ice.
He added the dog's owner was very distressed over the incident and that there was a need to protect the community.
Stokes was sentenced to three months jail which was reduced due to his early plea.
His sentence was suspended and was placed on a good behaviour bond.
