This guide will show the player whether to romance Triss or Yennefer, how to romance them and who should you romance. Read on to learn more.
Romancing Triss or Yennefer is tied to Geralt's ending. If you would like to affect Geralt's ending you will need to romance one of them.
To romance Triss you will need to complete the side quests A Matter of Life and Death and Now or Never . Romancing Triss will have stricter requirements compared to Yennefer.
For you to successfuly romance Triss you will need to first choose to kiss her when given the option in the quest A Matter of Life of Death. Then at the end of Now or Never you will need to choose the dialogue option [Stay with me] then [I love you] . If done correctly, Triss will be locked in as Geralt's romantic partner.
To romance Yennefer you will need to complete the side quest The Last Wish . It is fairly straight forward to romance Yennefer.
At the end of the quest The Last Wish you will have to decide between two dialogue options, [I still love you, too] or [Sorry, but i don't want to be with you anymore] . Choosing the first one will lock in Yennefer as your romance partner.
It is not recommended to Romance both of them as it will result in both leaving you and will be the same as if you did not romance either of them.
Gameplay wise it would be easier to romance Yennefer as it will only take one side quest and to succeed you will only need to choose a single dialogue choice. Story wise Yeneffer can also be considered as the "canon" partner, especially for those who have read the books.
But it can still be up to the player's taste. As long as the player does not romance them both, Geralt will get a happy ending.

I chose the the threesome, and got dumped, lol
Geralt doesn't need a honey, so I stayed a bachelor
I personally went with Triss, though it was a tough decision based on the story. We've spent three games searching for Yen, and the books stress how important she was to Geralt, but in the end having spent more time in the games with Triss I ultimately was more attached to her. I also like her personality better, and I have a weakness for redheads, lol. So what did you choose?

I like them both damn nearly equally. Although I would choose yennifer by a slight margin. I like her style and looks. Also she is sort of a badass and really kinky in bed. Dat unicorn.
Does choosing to lay with others along the way effect chances with yenn? I want to choose her but you know it is lonely out on the road. ;)
I didn't like Triss choice much. I went for Yen since 1. It makes more sense for Geralt to be with her. 2. Her appearance fits my tastes. 3. She doesn't seem childish. 4. I liked her voice more[Polish version]. 5. Sometimes she is rude and doesn't follow rules - which i like. 6. She is more sexy in terms of her behaviour. The only reason to choose Triss would be that she is a redhead ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I'm not knocking your choice mind you, but I like my chicks sweet with a bit of wit, which Triss always had.

It was a hard decision for me. But I chose Triss. I will play the game again once I finish it and get Yen. I kinda regret chosing Triss. Yen has a much bigger role in the story. Triss didnt get much space in the game :(
Well I got dumped by both... Was going to pick Triss, but I want to see what it's like with both. To be honest getting dumped sucked the life out of my motivation, and almost made me not finish the game. But having Ciri is more than enough. The ending where Geralt has a Witcher sword made for her, and she becomes one made me smile. Good Stuff.

Yeah, the Ciri ending is really sweet. This game gets that relationship 100% right, IMO.

Something went wrong. Wait a moment and try again.
To be honest… I liked Triss. I went after Yennefer in my first playthrough, and even though their story is well done, I really, really, REALLY don’t like romances done this way. Destined to be together, magically bound to love each other… I don’t like it because the main character doesn’t really decide what they feel. Instead, it’s decided for them. I can’t say more without spoiling the game, but by the time I did Yennefer’s romance quest, I just couldn’t see these two people together and being happy without some writing device keeping them together.

That’s actually why I liked that you could choose who to love in this game. I haven’t read the books but I did see online that Geralt is pretty much stuck with Yennefer, which is why CD Projekt Red’s decision to let the player choose is so bold!
So for me, it actually was pretty easy. Neither woman is a saint and each has a lot of red in her ledger. However, Triss seemed kinder, gentler, and more prone to asking forgiveness than Yennefer.
And maybe let me put it a different way: Yennefer felt like the girl you’re attracted to in High School… she pretty, everyone else seems to want her, and you feel kinda lucky just to have her. But in college, you meet more wonderful women, you grow up a bit, and when you look back, you see that she was awfully manipulative and not very nice. Meanwhile, Triss felt like that woman you fall in love with right after college. She pretty much knows what she wants, she’s able to hang out, have fun, speak her mind, but isn’t arrogant about it. She knows she’s beautiful, but she just likes to hear you say it.
Oh, boy, the big issue. Ok, let’s get to it… *rolls up sleeves*
My first exposure to the world of the Witcher was the second game. I hadn't read the books (now partially remedied) and hasn’t played the first game, (still haven’t) so found myself in a similar position to some others who have answered this question. I didn’t know who Triss was, apart from she’s clearly with Gerald, and seems nice. I didn’t know who Yennefer was, apart from Gerald used to know her and wants to find her again. That’s about all I had to go on. I don’t even know what Yennefer looks like.

My first exposure to the world of the Witcher was the second game. I didn’t know who Triss was, apart from she’s clearly with Gerald, and seems nice. I didn’t know who Yennefer was, apart from Gerald used to know her and wants to find her again. That’s about all I had to go on. I don’t even know what Yennefer looks like.
As the second game progressed, I found out that the relationship between Gerald and Yennefer was “toxic,” and that none of his friends seemed to like her. So perhaps she isn’t a nice person after all. Signs aren’t promising.
I learn that she dresses in black and white.
I learn that she has black hair. Black as a raven’s wing.
I learn that she smells of lilac and gooseberries.
Suddenly, I start to feel like I know her, just a little.
Then I meet her. After all this buildup, she’s right there in front of Geralt, and you finally see her in the flesh. She’s standoffish, bossy, a little rude. But after the scene ends, I realise I want to see her again.
I understood why Geralt’s friends don’t care for her much. I completely got that she could make people dislike her.
I also understood what Geralt saw in her.
As the game progresses, Geralt is able to break the ice (if you play your cards right) that’s formed since they last saw each other. Suddenly I can see more than the prickly exterior that she throws up to defend herself. I can see the woman beneath it all, the one that Geralt found so enchanting that he was willing to bind their fates together forever.
I chose the dialogue options that were the closest to what I would have said in real life. On Hindarsfjall, my Geralt chose to lighten the mood by making dog puns while searching for a werewolf. When Yennefer joined in, I realised what I was watching, and I realised why I had wanted to see her again.
Their relationship reminds me of something.
The song A Wolven Storm was one of the greatest moments I have ever seen in a video game. It sums up, deeply and sweetly, the relationship between the two.
Geralt will always long for Yennefer, no matter the circumstance.
She may disappear from his life, perhaps for long periods of time.
But when a storm comes, she will be right behind him as he runs into it.
They belong together, because they have twisted fate to make it just so, and damn what the stars own.
When it came to The Last Wish, I was fully invested in Geralt and Yen. When Geralt has the opportunity to tell her that his feelings hadn’t changed, I didn’t hesitate for a second. I have played through the game many times, and I have never taken the other option, and I never will. I once found the other option on Youtube just to see how it played out, and I couldn’t finish the video. The pain in Yennefer’s voice was heartbreaking.
As the game progressed further, and I began to see how Yen interacts with Ciri, I knew I’d made the right choice. Geralt and Yen are her parents, in every way that matters. Seeing that family together made the game for me.
When I played the last expansion, Blood and Wine, I got the Yen ending, and it moved me to tears. The knowledge that Geralt and Yen had found a Happy Ever After was the best finale I could have ever hoped for, and was the most emotionally fulfilling ending I have ever found in a game.
You see, the person that Yen reminds me of is my wife.
The relationship that they have reminds me of my own.
I am fortunate to be married to a wonderful, complex, enchantress of a woman. She is a challenge to me on every level, from the intellectual to the emotional, and everything in between, and solving the riddle of her being has been one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. We’ve been with each other through hell and back, and I have watched her bend under the weight of trials until they broke her. Then I have watched her pick herself up and just carry on. I have helped, in my own small way, but the strength of character she has shown has been inspirational to me. It is in no way an overstatement to say that she is my heroine.
That is what I believe Geralt sees when he looks at Yennefer. A companion who will challenge him on every level, push him out of his comfort zone, and make him grow as a man. He knows what horrors she’s been through, and loves her all the more for having had the strength to not only come through them, but to flourish as she did so.
Since I last played the game, my wife has given me a beautiful son. Now I understand even more deeply the bond that Geralt and Yen share.
The bond of those who have undertaken one of life’s great adventures: parenthood.
I have been fortunate enough to find a woman I can call my true love.
Who am I to deny Geralt the same opportunity?

All things related to The Witcher... Books, games, TV-series... You name it.
So it doesn't matter? good to know thanks
i wish i couldve romanced none but oh well...
You can romance noone. just romance both and you'll end up with not romancing either. plus you get a fun quests if you romance both ;)
I second what /u/griwulf said. It doesn't matter. There are however some things at the end of the story that you should do correctly in order to get the "good" ending. I reccommend reading up on this after Spoiler
It's not the case. Saving Ciri is irrelevant to your romance choices.
Sounds more like a false flag operation from Team Yennefer to make Team Triss look bad.
