"Winter Poker Open"


Pala Casino Spa & Resort will host the Pala Winter Poker Open, a week-long series of poker tournaments and advanced poker training courses, Feb. 12-20, in the Pala poker room and the Pala Events Center. Pala also will host its regular schedule of poker play during February.


Co-sponsored by DeepStacks Live, the industry leader in poker training, the Pala Poker Open will provide Southern California poker players the opportunity to compete against 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event Finalist Mike "The Grinder" Mizrachi in a minimum $1,000, maximum $10,000 buy-in High Stakes Game at 6 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 19. The High Stakes Game will be $10/$25 No Limit Hold'em. There will be one main game and two must-move games to accommodate players. Players can register now in the Poker Room to participate in the High Stakes Game. A $20 non-refundable deposit is required.


The No Limit Hold'em Main Event will be played at 11 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 20. The buy-in will be $340 with a $25,000 guaranteed prize pool.


Mazrachi also will teach a DeepStacks Live Advanced Tournament training course at 4 p.m., Friday, Feb. 18. The entry fee is $495 and Mizrachi will be joined in the training course by former World Series of Poker Main Event Champion Mike "The Mouth" Matusow. The $495 entry fee covers one-on-one instruction, table analysis, advanced odds and outs and player perception training.


The Pala Winter Poker Open will offer 15 separate events throughout the week.


A highlight of the schedule will be a ladies only event at 11 a.m.., Saturday, Feb. 13, sponsored by the Ladies International Poker Series (LIPS). The buy-in will be $100 and the entry fee $25. Each player will start with $10,000 in chips and there will be a $5 optional bonus buy for an additional $2,000 in chips. Blinds will be 30 minutes.

Mizrachi, a resident of Miramar, FL, won the 2010 World Series of Poker $50,000 Championship and was a fifth-place finisher in the 2010 WSOP Main Event. He has amassed over $11 million in lifetime earnings.


Matusow, a resident of Las Vegas, NV, is a three-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner and the winner of the 2005 WSOP Tournament of Champions. He has amassed more than $7 million in lifetime earnings.


Players can win a $495 entry into Mizrachi's training course by playing in Pala's daily tournaments from Feb. 1-10, except on Saturday, Feb. 5, when the Poker Room will sponsor a $3,300 cash drawing. From 2 p.m. to Midnight, players can win $300 every hour.


Players can win a $340 seat in Mizrachi's High Stakes Game by playing in Super Satellite tournaments at 11 a.m., 7 p.m. or 9 p.m. on Feb. 4, 10, 11, 12, 18 or 19. The Super Satellites at 4 p.m. on Feb. 4 and 11 a.m. Feb. 10 will have a $34 buy-in and a $5 entry fee with a $5 optional bonus buy for additional chips. One player out of each 10 will win a High Stakes Game seat. The Super Satellites at 11 a.m., and 9 p.m. on Feb. 11; 11 a.m. on Feb. 18 and 19 will have a $68 buy-in, a $10 entry fee and a $5 optional bonus buy for additional chips.
