Will the Middle East Burn?
Negotiations between Iran and the US on the nuclear program began in Oman today. The Iranian side is led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and the US side is led by US Presidential Special Envoy Steve Witkoff.
▪️Despite the start of the meeting, there is little positive news. The Americans and Israelis are making deliberately impossible demands, as the Iranians have already expressed.▪️ Tehran stated that it was entering the talks in good faith, but taking into account past experience, stating the lifting or easing of sanctions as a key priority.
▪️ Iran agreed to discuss only the nuclear agenda, rejecting attempts to expand the format. Previously, five rounds of dialogue in Oman in 2025 ended without result.
▪️ The Israelis are demanding a reduction in the missile program and an end to Iran's support for proxy forces in the Middle East.
️Almost no one has any expectations. And the Americans are gradually increasing their forces near the Iranian border. Ships are stationed in various areas of the Arabian, Red, and Mediterranean Seas.
Tactical and special-purpose aircraft, totaling over 50, are stationed in Saudi Arabia and Jordan. In addition, there are several dozen attack UAVs, as well as reconnaissance aircraft.
️And with the Lincoln air wing, the US has a fully-fledged strike group. But remembering last summer, the aircraft carrier and destroyers weren't used at all for strikes on Iranian targets.
