Wife Sex Scandal

A scandal that rocked the Evangelical Christian community is the subject of the upcoming Hulu documentary God Forbid: The Sex Scandal That Brought Down a Dynasty. The film focuses on the downfall of former Liberty University president Jerry Falwell Jr., who endorsed Donald Trump for the Republican nomination in the 2016 presidential election.
“As a pool attendant, I would get hit on,” says former pool-boy turned Falwell business partner Giancarlo Granda at the start of the trailer (watch below). “But if I would have known that accepting this woman’s invitation to go back to her hotel room would have led to a scandal involving the president of the largest Christian university in the world, and the president of the United States, I would have walked away and just enjoyed my private life.”
Granda is referring to his sexual relationship with Jerry’s wife, Becki, with whom he allegedly had an affair for roughly seven years. In the teaser, Granda claims that Jerry “liked to record his wife having sex with me,” noting, “[The Falwells] have a public image, but behind the scenes, they’re freaks.”

After news of the affair broke in August 2020, Jerry stepped down from his position at Liberty University, the private evangelical university in Virginia that his father co-founded. According to the Washington Post , he walked away with $10.5 million in pay without admitting to any wrongdoing. He also denied being involved with Granda, though he and his wife both confessed that she had an affair with him.
Following the release of the trailer, Becki told People that Granda’s claim of her husband filming them having sex “is not correct.” She also pointed to comments she made in a January interview with Vanity Fair, where she admitted to making sex tapes with Granda, which she says he agreed to at the time. “I had a big Canon camera. A couple of times, I put it on the dresser and Giancarlo agreed to it,” she stated.
The Falwells have also claimed that Granda has attempted to blackmail them, a claim which he denies.
Adam McKay and Billy Corben serve as producers on the doc, with Corben also directing.

'Pool boy' Giancarlo Granda claims Jerry Falwell Jr. filmed him having sex with wife in 'God Forbid' trailer.
A new Hulu documentary is on the way about Jerry Falwell Jr., his wife Becki, and Giancarlo Granda, the former Miami pool attendant at the heart of their sex scandal , which led to Falwell's resignation as president of Liberty University. Granda said in the opening moments of the trailer for God Forbid: The Sex Scandal That Brought Down a Dynasty:
“As a pool attendant, I would get hit on. But if I would have known that accepting this woman's invitation to go back to her hotel room would have led to a scandal involving the president of the largest Christian university in the world, and the President of the United States, I would have walked away and just enjoyed my private life.”
“They have a public image, but behind the scenes, they're freaks. If they wanted to make me disappear, they could do it.”
The Falwells met then-20-year-old Granda, who began a sexual relationship with Becki, in 2012 while visiting the Fontainebleau hotel in Miami. Granda previously told Reuters that he had an affair with Becki while Falwell Jr. watched. Both Falwell Jr. and Becki have denied his involvement and accused Granda of trying to blackmail them, which he has denied. In the trailer, Granda alleged that Falwell Jr. "liked to record his wife having sex with me."
“I know the truth about them, and the whole world is going to find out.”
After People reached out for a comment regarding the allegations made by Granada, Becki Falwell said:
She went on to reference comments she made in a January interview with Vanity Fair , in which she admitted to filming sex tapes with Granda:
“I had a big Canon camera. A couple of times I put it on the dresser and Giancarlo agreed to it.”
However, it was Granda's Reuters interview, as well as an Instagram photo scandal, that put Falwell Jr. on an “indefinite leave of absence” from his roles as president and chancellor of Liberty University, leading to his official resignation in August 2020.
God Forbid is produced by Adam McKay and Billy Corben, who is also directing. Corben exclusively tells People :

A pool boy has revealed in a new documentary how Jerry Falwell Jr. recorded him having sex with the  ex-Liberty University leader's wife Becki.
Giancarlo Granda, who worked at the ritzy Fontainebleau Hotel when he met Falwell's wife in 2012, made the comments at the start of a new Hulu documentary about the Falwell's life entitled God Forbid: The Sex Scandal That Brought Down a Dynasty .
Granda states how Falwell Jr. 'liked to record his wife having sex with me. I know the truth about them, and the whole world is going to find out,' he states in a trailer for the documentary due to be released next month.
'As a pool attendant, I would get hit on, but if I would have known that accepting this woman's invitation to go back to her hotel room would have led to a scandal involving the president of the largest Christian university in the world, and the president of the United States, I would have walked away and just enjoyed my private life,' said Granda.
The documentary delves deeper in Granda's side of the story, seven years after he first met the Falwells at the legendary Miami pool.
'They have a public image, but behind the scenes, they're freaks,' Granda says. 'If they wanted to make me disappear, they could do it.'

Granda met the Falwells in 2012, at the age of 20, and began a sexual relationship with Becki, who was 44 at the time.
Granda said that he had an affair with Becki while Falwell Jr. watched. Granda claimed that they formed a 'throuple' - a polyamorous couple who invite a third person to join their relationship.
Granda insists that Jerry watched him and Becki the first time they had intercourse, which occurred in March 2012.
Granda has emails, text messages and other evidence that he says demonstrate the sexual nature of his relationship with the couple, who have been married since 1987.
'Becki and I developed an intimate relationship and Jerry enjoyed watching from the corner of the room,' Granda told Reuters in 2020.
He described the liaisons as frequent – 'multiple times per year' – and said the encounters took place at hotels in Miami and New York, and at the Falwells' home in Virginia.
'This is not correct. I had a big Canon camera. A couple of times I put it on the dresser and Giancarlo agreed to it,' Becki told People , referring back to comments she had made earlier this year.
During a Vanity Fair interview, Jerry, 57, admitted that he'd once walked in on Becki and Granda in bed, and claimed to have been 'traumatized' by the sight of another man having sex with his spouse.
But the Falwells even entered into a business agreement with Granda which saw them support his hospitality venture. Asked why they'd continued to bankroll Granda to the tune of $1.8 million, long after the personal relationship had allegedly soured, Jerry claimed it had been too good a business opportunity to miss.
Granda has since accused the Falwells of 'grooming him'.
Jerry Falwell Jr. and Becki have both denied Granda ever being involved and have accused him of trying to blackmail them.
Granda denies any such intent, saying he was seeking to negotiate a buyout from a business arrangement he says he had with the couple.

Producer Billy Corben says new details of the scandal will be alleged during the program.
'We watched this play out in real time a couple of years ago and thought we knew the whole story. But if you think this is just a salacious sex scandal involving a former pool boy and the president and first lady of the largest Christian university in the world, you don't know the half of it,' Corben teased.
'We hope the takeaway is: leaders who want to impose their moral beliefs on others often have the most skeletons in their closet. Now more than ever, people in power and those seeking office seem to live by the motto, 'Do as I say, not as I do.''

Jerry's time as president of Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, came to an end last year after Granda's revelations about the years-long affair emerged.
But in January of this year, the Falwells told Vanity Fair they had moved on.
'We're together more than any couple you will ever meet in your life,' Becki said. 'He forgave me, and that's what Jesus teaches, forgiveness.'
Becki has claimed how in 2017 Granda pressured her into having sex in her 25 year-old daughter's Caroline's bed long, after the relationship between her and Granda had ended.

'He said he wanted to have sex and I said, 'No, no, no.' I kept saying no. I didn't want to do it,' Becki said.
'But I was scared to death of him too, because he was still holding everything over me, so we had sex. He left and I went into the room and just cried.
'I said no. Just because we had sex before does not mean he has a free ticket to my body,' she told the magazine earlier this year.
Jerry, one of the most influential right-wing Christian leaders in the United States, went public about his wife's infidelity in 2020.
He said the couple had chosen to make the affair public as he alleged the pool boy had been blackmailing them for years about keeping the secret.

'Jerry would wake up every morning and worry that my affair would come out. Both of us did,' Becki recalled. 'It's just horrible to have that over you.'
Jerry claims Granda devised an extortion plot and demanded $2million to keep the affair secret.
When he took the affair public two years ago, Jerry claimed that the 'threatening behavior' left him with 'trauma' and had greatly affected him as he tried to run Liberty University.
