The word every couple needs to know
A woman has recounted the moment she claims she caught her husband on camera having an affair β€” with her son from a previous relationship.
The anonymous woman, 47, detailed the heart-breaking story in a post to Reddit, saying she had concerns for "months" that her husband, 34, was cheating on her.
To quell her suspicions, the woman installed a camera in their home, not only confirming her fears all along, but encountering an unexpected twist along the way.
"A few months ago, I noticed a change in my husband. We stopped having sex which was very odd for us as we always had sex a few times a week," she wrote in her post.
"He also was more distant with affection and very secretive with his phone, and when I checked it he had changed his passcode."
The woman said she opted for a range of surveillance methods, checking her husband's laptop and personal belongings for clues.
However, the further she dug, the more changed passwords and concealed information she came across.
Prompted by a co-worker, who had used a secret camera to catch her own ex-husband having an affair, the woman says she installed a device to record her partner after a lot of "internal debate."
"I bought a camera I could watch through my phone as I prepared for a short business trip," she said.
"I hid it in our living room at an angle that covered most of the room, but mainly aimed it at the front door so I could see if anyone picked him up or came in with him."
It was then the woman claimed she witnessed footage that "destroyed" her life.
"I was horrified and devastated to see my husband kissing my son," she said.
"My life is ruined, just completely destroyed, and I don't know how to go on, a part of me never wants to leave this hotel room."
The woman explained her son was from a previous relationship and was 25 years old – nine years younger than her cheating spouse.
At first, the woman said she was unsure if she could "ever look at either of them again" following the betrayal, but decided to confront her husband a few days later.
"I called and told him I knew everything and wanted him out of my house by the time I returned," she said.
"He didn't apologise or even deny it, he just hung up on me. I texted and demanded he confirm he'd leave and not be there when I came home."
The woman claimed she didn't receive response from her husband, but her "pathetic excuse for a son" messaged her saying he would move out before she returned home.
During an emotional phone call, the woman said she demanded to understand the thinking behind the illicit romance, screaming and crying before her son finally made a gut-wrenching admission.
"I'm sorry, I really am but I love him."
The confession caused the woman to break her phone and throw it across the room.
"I just don't understand how the two most important people in the world to me could do this?" the woman wrote, claiming her son was "dead" to her.
The woman said she had been "humiliated" by the ordeal and had been drinking and crying home alone ever since the discovery.
"Hell, I don't even want to be in this house - it reminds me of them and what they did to me, but I literally haven't even had the strength to get dressed, let alone book a hotel and pack a bag."
