Former Fleetwood Mac singer/guitarist Lindsey Buckingham’s big love is over as the rocker’s wife goes her own way.
Buckingham’s spouse of more than 20 years, Kristen Messner, filed for divorce in Los Angeles, TMZ reported Tuesday.
The couple reportedly married in 2000 and have three children above the age of 17 together.
The 71-year-old met Messner, 50, in the 1990s when she photographed him for one of his solo albums, according to reports.
Ten years ago, Buckingham told the Las Vegas Review-Journal he was lucky to find love later in life.
“I had a lot of crazy girlfriends, and a lot of that was just an outgrowth of the lifestyle we were all leading,” the fingerpicker said.
“I did see a lot of friends who were parents and spouses — back in previous decades — who weren’t really there and kind of screwed up their kids and were not there for their family situations. So I waited and I was lucky enough to meet someone relatively late… it’s worked out really well. I got all that other garbage out of the way.”
Word of Buckingham’s broken family chain comes as the musician took to Twitter to promote a new album, “I Don’t Mind,” and a 2021 tour.
“My new self-titled album is one I’ve been intending to get out for a couple of years now, but on more than one occasion, unforeseen circumstances necessitated a postponement of plans,” Buckingham tweeted Tuesday.
“Now that we’re back in gear, I’m thrilled to finally be sharing new music with my listeners!”
It’s not the first public breakup for Buckingham, who was famously kicked out of the legendary band in 2018.
His whirlwind romance with singing partner Stevie Nicks was brought down by a landslide of success, drugs and infighting during Fleetwood Mac ‘s rise to the top of the charts in the mid-70s.

Feels like we’ve Cen-a wedding with these two before?
On Friday, John Cena wed his — um, wife? — of 21 months, engineer Shay Shariatzadeh, in an intimate ceremony in Vancouver, according to People .
Well, that is to say, the pair tied the knot late last week as a matter of pomp and circumstance, but they actually legally became husband-and-wife back in October 2020, when the couple obtained a marriage certificate out of Tampa, Fla. from attorney Dilip Patel.
The formal nuptials unfolded in the city Shariatzadeh, 33, called home through her young adulthood, having attended college in Vancouver at University of British Columbia, where she majored in electrical engineering. She became a Canadian citizen sometime after her family moved to the country from her native Iran.
The wrestler-turned-actor discussed the possibility of the pair having children together during a visit to “The Drew Barrymore Show” in January, admitting that while he’s “great” with kids, he’s still hesitant.
“I think just because you might be good at something, for me, it is not a strong enough reason to do that. You have to have passion for it. You have to have fuel for it. It’s like saying to someone, ‘Man, you know, you’re pretty good with your hands, you’d be a great carpenter,’ but if I want to be an actor, I’ll be an actor,” Cena reasoned.
Cena, 45, reportedly met the brainy beauty on the Vancouver-based set of his firefighter-themed comedy “Playing With Fire,” which filmed in early 2019 .
The lovebirds went on to make their public debut as a couple at the premiere of the film the following October.
The romance took off roughly a year after the “Peacemaker” star split with now-ex-fiancée Nikki Bella, whom he dated for six years before the two ended things in summer 2018.

A Florida man is accused of brutally murdering his wife by slashing her throat and watching her bleed to death in a bathtub.

According to the arrest report obtained by Law & Crime and viewed by PEOPLE, police in Altamonte Springs, Fla., arrested 21-year-old Xichen Yang on charges of first degree murder and tampering with evidence, after he confessed to killing his wife, 21-year-old Nhu Quynh Pham, inside their apartment.

On Tuesday, Yang was reportedly angry with Pham for burning his passport. In response, he allegedly cut her throat with a knife, according to the arrest report.

Following the slashing, Yang allegedly placed Pham in the bathtub, where he "held her hand" for about 10 minutes until she died, the report alleges.

Yang allegedly confessed to police he tried to clean the crime scene, the arrest report states.

When asked by detectives why he didn't stop short of killing his wife, Yang allegedly said that that was "not how he was raised" and that he is the type of person "who always goes all the way," according to the arrest report.

Prior to his arrest, Yang also allegedly told his employer the reason he was not at work that day was because he had killed Pham.

According to WKMG-TV , Altamonte Springs police said that their officers had been called to the couple's residence three times in the past. The most recent call came less than two weeks before Pham was allegedly murdered.

"She called where he was doing self-harm to himself, and they had gotten into an altercation. There was a history of altercations," police spokesperson Michelle Montalvo told the outlet. "When officers got on scene and got all the details, they were able to determine he was doing self-harm to himself, and the victim was also concerned for him. He was taken into protective custody."

Yang is currently being held without bond. It's not immediately clear if he has entered a plea. PEOPLE was not able to immediately reach his attorney, Carrie Rentz.

A GoFundMe campaign for Pham's funeral expenses is currently active.
