Why was Pyotr Konchalovsky called a "real Spaniard"?

To mark the 150th anniversary of the painter, the Moscow Art Theater Museum opens the exhibition "Fiesta of Pyotr Konchalovsky". The exhibition will tell about the theatrical side of the work of one of the largest Russian artists of the XX century. Visitors will see sketches for performances of the Moscow Art Theater and the Bolshoi Theater, including productions of "Carmen" and "Pericola", as well as personal belongings of the master from museum collections.

The name of the exhibition is no coincidence: it reflects Konchalovsky's special love for Spain, which inspired him to create a series of works.
