Why Zoom is for calling, not planning

Why Zoom is for calling, not planning

I use Zoom at least a few times each day for several years. This service is absolutely great for conference calls and webinars. And for some reason awful for the planing.

Meetings section in the Zoom macOS application

Zoom application for macOS. Meetings section

Zoom client for macOS is having a very nice feature of tracking what are the meetings coming next. And the feature is broken, for years

I’m having it’s latest (5.0.2) client application installed on my machine. And you can see that according to this nice tool I had 3 meetings today, and the next meeting will be on…Monday 😳. I’m surprised since it’s not true at all.

My calendar, the actual state

Even more, not counting that Zoom just skipped 3 days in a row. The first meeting which it’s showing on Monday is actually the last in my calendar on this day.

You my say It’s happening, probably the issue with your local machine or something.

But I’m having my Office 365 account connected to the Zoom service online. And they kinda promising me that it’s done for the synchronisation purpose. Sounds great, right?

You can check your settings here: https://zoom.us/profile. And that’s not the end of the story.

Meetings section on the Zoom website

The web interface of their website is having the Meetings section too, here it is https://zoom.us/meeting. Which is absolute failure from the “check my agenda” perspective and nohow reflecting the current status of my current meetings in the calendar.

Most of these meetings aren’t alive anymore. Not saying that it’s showing somehting completely different to the desktop version. Where is the promised “synchronization”, I didn’t get what is it doing at all.

That’s it for today. Hope that someone from the Zoom product team will read it and do something with this feature.

By the way, if you’re using Zoom a lot, this little app can help you to save your time while trying to connect to the next meeting: http://jumpinm.com
