The official list below only shows reserved time periods not confirmed exams. It is important to confirm with your instructor if the final exam for the course will be scheduled during this time.
Before registering, be sure to go over the Goethe exam guidelines and terms and conditions on each individual exam page. Also, make sure you sign up for the right exam level.
Locations
The Exam Schedule lists locations where DEP conducts operator certification exams. Exam pages for each exam are available for additional guidelines, terms and conditions and exam information. If you require special accommodations due to a chronic illness, hearing or visual impairment, please contact the exam provider directly and make sure to submit a thorough documentation at the time of registration.
The Faculty Dashboard in Workday has an option to "View My Teaching Schedule" which lets faculty discover their exam schedules. Additionally the Registrar's Office has a list of exam times for classes in which an exam is required by NYSED regulations. Final exams for classes that are held in the evenings are scheduled for the regular class time of the final exam weeks.
Please be aware that the Projected University Examination Schedule is intended as a rough guideline and that the dates for the final exam are subject to change.
Registration
Students are encouraged to look up the exam schedule online. However, it is important to note that the exam schedule could be altered at any time. Therefore, students should check with their instructors to confirm that they have the correct date and time for their test. Students should also print out the official list of questions to bring with them to their exam.
In addition to the exam schedule, students should familiarize themselves with the exam guidelines, the terms and conditions. They are available on the individual exam pages. Students acknowledge having read and agreed to the terms and conditions upon registration.
Exam locations will do their best to accommodate those who have special needs. The nature and extent of these needs should be stated on the registration form and confirmed by a doctor's attestation. Additionally the locations for the exam must respect confidentiality and be maintained.
If a student is scheduled to take three exams scheduled on the same day, it is suggested that they contact their department or instructor to schedule an exam to make up. Although it is possible to take three exams in one day, it can cause a high stress level and impact the quality of the exam. The professor might not be able to offer an opportunity to take a makeup test on a different day.
Before taking the exam, students must prepare by reviewing their course material and practicing their German skills. The test is a paper-based test that measures the ability to read, speak, and write in German. The examination results are presented on a scale from A1 to C2. Students who pass the test are awarded the Goethe-Zertifikat. The certificate certifies that the student has achieved language level A1. This level is the first level of the six-level scale of competence laid down in the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages. The examination is free of cost. Students must bring a valid government-issued ID to the test. Anyone who does not have a valid photo ID will be disqualified.

Practice assessments provide you with an overview of the format of the questions, their wording and the difficulty of the questions on the test. They allow you to assess your proficiency, identify gaps in knowledge and improve your chances of passing the exam.
Please note that the exam fee isn't refundable. Exam results can only be accessed via email and not by telephone.
