Why We Enjoy Item Upgrade (And You Should Also!)
Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
The process of upgrading an item, often referred to as "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment results in a linear increase in a given stat.
Players can recycle six items at a time to gauge each item's upgraded component. The cost of recycling a piece of equipment increases according to their rarity and level.
Upgrade components
In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade to an item is a method to increase the stats on your weapons and armor. This can be achieved through a variety of methods such as using upgrade components or increasing the rarity of an item or its mark level. A lot of items can be reforged in order to increase their stats.
Upgradeable items are available throughout the game, both in the world and as rewards for missions. They can also be made by players. Upgrade components are the most common method of upgrading equipment. These are the items that slot into equipment. Most equipment comes with upgrade slots, and the majority require a certain level of upgrade. Some upgrade components give specific bonuses while others provide general bonuses.
There are a variety of upgrade components that are available in the game. These include universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. upgrade item , like gems and enchantments can be placed on any equipment and provide smaller bonuses than upgrades for specific equipment. To upgrade an item, simply select it from your inventory and open the Upgrade window. The preview will be displayed on the right hand side of the screen. It will display the expected statistics after the upgrade. The Upgrade button at the bottom will be labeled as Blocked if you don't have enough of either.
The upper-right corner shows the number of upgrade components required for a particular item. The cost of an upgrade increases depending on the level of upgrade and rarity, but can be reduced using various methods, including purchasing upgrades from a retailer or trading them to other players.
Most weapons can be upgraded using a prefix upgrade, such as an insignia or rune. Many can be upgraded with suffix upgrades. These upgrades alter the name of the item and add an adjective, such as "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor. The only exceptions are the noninscribable wands, foci and shields from the Prophecies and Factions campaigns, that cannot be upgraded using any mods at all.
Glyphs
Glyphs are a way to communicate visual information. They animate to capture the viewer's attention and spur interest in the brain. The animation of glyphs resembles body language, making them more effective in conveying a message across linguistic barriers. Glyphs also create a sense of familiarity in the brain, thereby increasing retention of the message.
Each glyph has a range of values it can improve a stat by in the form of an item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use them to enchant an Artifact. This range is not the actual amount by the glyph can increase a stat, but the maximum amount it is able to do so. The value of the glyph depends on the tier and quality of the item you are in awe of.
item upgrading of upgrade components inserted into items can't be removed or replaced without removing them except for legendary upgrades and equipment. If, however, you have a non-useful rune or glyph that has not yet been incorporated into your gear, you can move it to a different piece of gear by using the Upgrade Glyphs context menu within the Glyphs panel. This will create an entirely new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.
You can remove any glyph with the help of the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. The item on which the glyph is installed will be destroyed, but the upgraded item can be retrieved with the glyph shards.
Adding a glyph to an item could cause it to be unstable, and the shards of the glyph will disappear from your inventory when you dismantle the item. You can also add a glyph on your equipment to make it more valuable. For instance the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and distribute it slowly instead of all at once. This is beneficial for players who are taking many hits from their enemies however do not want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens allow players to alter the affixes they use on their weapons and equipment, and can be found in a variety of ways, including in mistery boxes, as a rare drop from skulled creatures, or from killing bosses. Reroll tokens give players a new random affix, which is typically better than the original one. Reroll tokens can also be a good option to reroll stats on weapons and can be upgraded to provide better damage or other perks.
Rerolled items don't appear on the menu for upgrade options, but they can still be upgraded. Rerolled items can be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button which alters the appearance of the window and allows up to six items to be chosen to recycle. Recycling an item adds small amount of points to its level gauge. This amount is determined by the rarity of the item and its level, therefore items with higher levels are more valuable to recycle than lower-level ones.
Players can also use Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to reroll Weapon Traits for upgraded units. Rerolls will determine the % chance of a particular weapon trait. If it rolls higher, the weapon is upgraded. If it is lower, it remains the same. Weapons can be upgraded up to 3 times.
A reroll is a good option to upgrade an item, but players should be aware that it could reduce the total ilvl of the weapon based on the number of rerolls used in order to increase it to the final level. This effect is most evident on rings and Diadems, as they have no other options for raising ilvl.
The Reroll system has been criticized by players as being too expensive, and it would be more reasonable to let players pay for it in the form of money or food items that allows them to change their build without wasting time and effort. The developers do not plan to implement paid rerolls at this stage of the game's development. Instead, they're planning add an option to change the race in the near future.
Leveling
There are several ways to upgrade an item. The first way to level up an item upgrade is to increase the upgrade amount. This boosts the upgrade value for any stat. The second is to increase the effect of an upgrade which increases the damage or heal of a given stat. The base item can be upgraded to a more advanced upgrade type. The upgraded item will maintain its iLevel, but will be upgraded to reflect the effects of the upgraded item.
When upgrading your items It is crucial to keep in mind that upgrades are random. In most cases the best roll will result from glyphs, but there are also chances for more or unique rolls. Additionally the iLevel of an upgrade will be determined by the item type, so should you upgrade a rare or unusual item to an extraordinary type you will have a chance to gain a higher iLevel.
