The history behind the card
The hands-free card from Renault is a global success. It has become an integral part of the daily life of car owners. It was initially designed in the year 2000 and is now among the most innovative innovations within the company. In 2001 the Laguna II, an executive saloon which embodies 'lifestyle-driven driving", went into production. It was a period of great innovation, with numerous new equipment features that helped customers reap the full advantages of their vehicle.
However, the passengers of the cars had to use keys to open and close their doors. Renault engineers realized that this was a huge problem for many.
They decided to integrate the contactless card into their vehicles, and then develop a system which would allow drivers to enter and unlock their vehicles by simply waving their hands. The card's key is found in two out of three Renault vehicles. The card can be found located in the ignition barrel or the centre console the car will be unlocked when the card approaches and close automatically when it's moved away. This is a genuine Renault remote control card (without blade). The keyless entry system
Renault's hands free card was a ground-breaking piece of technology when it first came out 20 years ago. The exterior is identical but the technology has been improved to make it more user-friendly and harder to hack.
It's not able to be used from outside to open doors or start the car unless the driver has activated it. This is because radio antennae "around the car" are programmed to detect whether the key is inside or outside. The key will still work at a distance to begin the car's ignition but not to unlock the doors, and that's for your safety.
The other thing to note is that the system's wireless remote control transmissions employ a rolling-code. This lowers the likelihood of security being compromised by someone who intercepts and retransmits an authorization message to gain access but it does not eliminate the threat completely. [1]
