Volvo drivers love the remote control capabilities of their key fob. They can lock and unlock their car, start the motor, and even locate it with a smartphone application.
Place the key fob's face up on a clean surface. Find the button that will release it. Place a coin in between the cover of the fob and the fob, then carefully pull it up.
Locking the Door
Volvo's remote keyfobs can unlock your vehicle's doors, tailgate and flaps for filling with fuel with the push of the button. They also can turn on the ignition, turn off the alarm, and even operate your sunroof when it's installed. You'll never have to look for your keys, or have to worry about locking out of your vehicle.

Keep your key fob in place with the Volvo logo facing upwards, and press the manual lock/unlock. Locate the black button that is near the edge of the key fob's body and press it gently to open a cover that conceals the manual key blade. The cover can be flipped counterclockwise using a flathead or coin.
Start the Engine

A key fob, as any other battery-operated device, can lose its charge over time. If you've noticed that your key fob has become less responsive when you press the lock or unlock buttons, it's an indication that it's in need of a new battery.
You can activate this feature by using the key fob if the vehicle has a dealer-installed Engine Remote Start. The car will heat or cool at the same temperature it was set to when it was parked and it can run for up to 15 minutes.
Remove the cover on the back of the key fob by using your fingernail. A button is located under the cover at a diagonal, near the body's edge. Slide it down and then to the right. G28 Car Keys will fall open and slide off leaving the manual key blade inside! If you're unable to locate the button, check the now-revealed manual key access to find an undiscovered lever or slot.
Close the Windows
Volvo key fobs have an unnoticed feature that allows users to instantly lower all windows. This is helpful when you're trying to squeeze into tight parking spaces or simply want fresh air while driving.
Press and hold the unlock button on your Volvo remote control for four seconds. This will lower the windows and the sunroof, if there is one. When you're done with your vehicle, you can close all the windows by pressing the lock key again for four seconds.
You can also use your key fob for activating your car's panic alarm. It will create an alarm that is loud enough to attract attention and deter thieves. It will also assist you get home safely if you've been out all night. This feature can be very useful if you are living in a dangerous neighborhood or want to protect your family members while they are away.
The opening of the Tailgate

Volvo has packed its key fob with variety of useful features. They are ideal when you're swamped with groceries or helping kids pack their sports gear after a workout.
If you have the Hands Free Liftgate with Logo Projection and Programmable Height (if equipped) Then you can open it using the key fob. Simply press the button to open it, and use the same button to close it once you're done.

Turning off the Alarm

Set out your key fobs as well as batteries and additional keys on a clean surface. Set the key fob with the Volvo logo facing upwards Then, locate a small black button to the left-hand side of the fob and slide it down and to the right. The cover should fall off and expose the key blade's mechanical mechanism underneath.
The key fob's unlock button two times quickly, and you should be able to open all the doors as well as the tailgate. The lock button also closes the windows and sunroof (if fitted) by pressing it for two seconds. Reconnect the battery, and the alarm should cease. If it doesn't, the owner's manual should provide a way to reset the alarm.
