why is it called a blow job if you dont blow??dont you suck?
LOL...that's a head scratcher. Good luck dear!
This would be a very good question to forward to former President Bill Clinton, as you use to get them in the Oval Office during phone calls from members of both Houses. It relieved the build up of stress during the phone call. Also, as a highly educated man, and leader of this great nation, he determined that it was not sex. He would be the best source to answer this question.
On another note, I see the prostitutes has called it a Wensky instead of a ********. I talk to them frequently when they ride in my taxi cab.
Actually sucking is not an essential requirement and doesn't feel much like anything extra when not sucking..... Licking to glans lightly really a great tease if you persist.... and bobbing frantically feels fantastic too... it's the sensation of feeling hot lips and wet tongue that feels best.... sorry if I have been a little graphic... but you are right.. the name is a complete misconception that leads to mediocre execution.
It comes from the expression "Thar she blows" a cry that was used by whalers when they saw a whale come to the surface and expel air that looked like a fountain.and the term began to be applied to men at the time of ejaculation so,to give a blowj*b meant to orally stimulate a man until he "blew".I hope this answers the question.

Great question.. I have always wondered it too...
Why they call it a bloking job when most of the time...what goes on is more of sucking than blowing....
Myabe it should be renamed as...Suck job....
Because if done properly, something always blows in the end.
If you blow the air bubble will travel the guys body until it reaches his heart and then he'll die...seriously...yup... hahahaha just kidding.
Suck job doesn't really sound like a positive experience though
Usually yes. Or not either one, just the pressure from your mouth and lips. The "real" word is fellatio, by the way.
Why do "flammable" and "inflammable" mean the same thing? Who knows?
No freakin idea. But I like'em. :) I wonder who thought up the name....

Well, this was an interesting read. I actually laughed out loud when I clicked on the definition for DSL – ridiculous what people come up with.
Your reasons for not enjoying BJs are valid, and it makes sense how your past has influenced your sexual…...
You are a rare kind of man and I'm sure you partner is very appreciative. I understand where you're coming from and you have me questioning myself. I personally love giving blowjobs, always have, because I love watching a man go weak under my…...
If I miss out on a few BJs to stand out from a crowd of overcompensating masculinity, then that’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make any day of any week.
My personal philosophy is that the woman’s pleasure is priority number one. She just deserves it, and I’m going to give it to her.
Giving the chance for one is giving as well.
Omg. Where can I meet a man like you? I thought all men were predators. Well, I seem to find them. Or they find me. I’m not clear how that works. I figured I would never trust a man again. It is going to be a very long, time from now before I will consider opening my heart again. I have a lot of emotional to do. Deep, agonizing, emotional work. I…
I know you didn’t mean for this to be humorous, but it’s hysterical. You spend 5 minutes trying your hardest to show how progressive you are, but your lead picture is a sexually suggestive photo of a woman licking white cream off her finger. If that isn’t irony, I don’t know what is.
That’s right. I said it, and it’s not a gimmick to attract readers. I actually mean it. I don’t like blow jobs. Full stop.
I’ve had women argue with me that I’ve just never received a good blow job before. Nope. That’s completely untrue.
You could be genetically blessed with a full and luscious set of the perfect DSLs. You could have a strong, dexterous tongue. You could be a multi-tasking expert who can deftly suck the head while working the shaft.
None of that matters. It’s just not for me.
Call me a weirdo. Call me an outlier. Call me crazy. Call me whatever you want. Name calling isn’t going to change my opinion — especially as I have a logical rationale.
Still don’t believe me? Well, here are four reasons I take a hard pass on BJs.
This reason speaks for itself. It’s plain, and it’s simple. And better yet, it’s completely true.
Unless a partner is a boring, limp fish in bed (my girlfriend is quite the opposite in fact), having sex is always better — 100% of the time.
It just feels better to me. It’s more engaging. It’s more intense and passionate. I want to look my love in the eyes and taste her body while I’m inside her.
Sex can be so many things. You can go slow and gentle when you make love, emphasizing compassion and intimacy. Or you can let intense passion take over, hold your partner down and give it to her rough.
You can experiment, you can tease, you can tantalize, you can drive your partner crazy in anticipation of sexual release.
Sex is an intimate connection to your partner, which can help to solidify a relationship. If done well, this erotic bond is mutually pleasurable for each participant. Wise elders understood its full potential and outlined its versatility in books passed down through the ages.
To me, it’s just more meaningful and fulfilling than a one-sided act.
If there is going to be a one-sided act, I’d prefer to be on the giving than the receiving end.
Guys, listen up, this is a PSA for you.
Chivalry isn’t just about holding doors open and letting your date order first. It’s not some “act” you just drop when you’ve conned her into the bedroom. If you regress to self-centered ways, it’ll be immediately apparent, and you likely won’t get a second serving.
My personal philosophy is that the woman’s pleasure is priority number one. She just deserves it, and I’m going to give it to her.
To me, it feels amazing to bring my love to climax with my tongue and feel her legs shaking in my arms. It’s a form of intimate and gentle power to help her reach sexual release.
If eating her leads to my own pleasure, then that’s just icing on the cake.
If you’ve ever watched pornography — which is increasingly likely according to these PornHub stats — then you know that the blow job often exploits a clear power dynamic.
As showcased in any number of male gender tropes, many men seek to be perceived as being in power and dominating others. Psychologically, for some men, overcompensation or hyper-masculinity seems to help them override their repressed insecurities or vulnerabilities. Conventional depictions of blowjobs can reinforce patriarchal and sexist gender roles.
While not always the case, blow jobs in porn are often directed to appear degrading to the woman and reinforce these gender roles. In these videos men grab the woman’s head/hair and force her head to bob up and down (often while she’s on her knees).
During decades hanging out with groups of male friends, men regularly bragged about blow jobs as something they had extracted from a woman. They would peacock about getting all of the pleasure of sex without having to do any of the work. For much of my adulthood, these tales of sexual exploit usually ended with the inevitable, juvenile spit or swallow reference.
Now, I can sense words of protest ready to shoot out of some of you. Women might argue that reasons two and three conflict with each other. Specifically, why couldn’t a woman enjoy giving a blowjob and feel empowered by controlling her partner’s pleasure?
This is a fair argument. And while I do not disagree with this view, patriarchal gender power dynamics have simply tainted the act in my mind.
You may think this is a weak sauce rationale. Maybe it is, and maybe it isn’t. Hear me out.
My girlfriend would be the first to tell you that I’m difficult and sometimes argue for the sake of arguing.
Growing up, if I was told that I must to do something in a particular way, I would intentionally try to find another way. If I was told I couldn’t do something, I would inevitably try to accomplish whatever I was told was not possible or was forbidden.
The prohibition made whatever it was more alluring to me. This played into my past issues with alcohol, and the standardized, expected social norms played into my sexual development.
As a man, I understand the traditional assumptions and stereotypes. In particular, men want to have sex all the time and love to receive blow jobs. So, true to form, I decided to buck these trends.
I do not need to have sex all the time, and I don’t like blow jobs. My choices have led to disbelief and surprise, which have benefited me in other ways. For example, it’s easier to trust a partner when you know they’re not just trying to get in your pants.
Maybe it’s because I went to an all-male high school and experienced some really choice scumbags. Maybe it’s because I’m a sensitive kind of guy who has taken time to deal with his insecurities and become comfortable with his vulnerability. Either way, I have never liked chauvinistic or misogynistic men, and I never will.
During years of therapy, I’ve come to realize that men who overcompensate, who treat women like objects, who degrade their partners — it’s these men who are the most insecure and afraid. These are the fearful little children who never grew up and need to protect their fragile egos by acting out.
If I miss out on a few BJs to stand out from a crowd of overcompensating masculinity, then that’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make any day of any week.
