The STR has been fighting to get information about evolution from textbooks including the discovery that the feathered Archaeopteryx was an ancestral bird. This is just one aspect of how the development paradigm has evolved.
What is Evolution?
Evolution is a concept in science that explains changes in genetic characteristics over time. The theory is based upon the fact that living creatures adapt to their environment, which can result in changes to genes or entire genomes. These changes can over many generations lead to the emergence of new species. Natural selection is the most popular theory of evolution. It explains how people with traits that are advantageous are more likely to reproduce and survive than those with less advantageous traits. This differing reproduction may eventually lead to the development and emergence of new species.
The word "evolution" originates from the Latin word"evolution" which means unrolling or revealing, but the concept itself has had many different meanings as it has taken form in the fields of science and other fields. Early evolutionists, such as Jean Baptiste de Lamarck and Erasmus Darwin (Charles's grandfather) believed that existing species changed into other species in a certain way. Etienne Geoffroy St-Hilaire, Lamarck's embryologist student who came up with the term "transmutation" to describe this theory. Charles Lyell, in his Principles of Geology, published in 1833, criticized the concept of evolution and borrowed the term from Geoffroy's student.
In recent years evolutionary biologists have defined evolution as a process that occurs when living things develop characteristics that improve their chances of survival or ability to produce offspring. As time passes this genetic variation can cause the emergence of completely new physical or biological traits in the population. Natural selection is the process that drives the majority of evolutionary changes. Changes that are not genetic, like an increase in muscle mass through exercise or diet, can't be considered to be evolutionary because they don't pass on to future generations.
Despite the fact that evolution has stood the test of time and thousands of scientific studies Creationists have taken advantage of the notion that the theory is controversial to argue that it should not be taught in schools. In South Korea, creationists have had a few wins in their fight to remove evolution from high-school textbooks and have also gotten rid of references to the evolutionary origins of humans, as well as the Archaeopteryx, a feathered dinosaur that is thought to be the ancestral bird's ancestor.

While these are troubling changes, it's important to keep in mind that the evidence for evolution is overwhelming. The evidence for evolution comes from many sources, including fossils, genetics, and even the behavior of living creatures. The evidence is also independently verified by other scientists.
The majority of scientists support the theory of evolution. This belief is based on many different reasons. Scientists study evolution to make practical discoveries for example, such as the development of medications, while others are motivated by an interest in improving the quality of life for animals and plant species, generally to benefit humans. What is Creationism?
Creationists are people who believe that God created the universe and all that is in it. They also believe that the Bible is the word of God and should be taken seriously. Many creationists are Christians, but not all. Creationists are generally divided into two categories: Young Earth Creationists (YEC) or old earth creationists.

Then, these evolutionary changes will create new species that are identical to the original species.
Others believe that God created the universe and all living things in one event, referred to as the Great Flood. They believe that all the original species were created at the same moment and then slowly evolved. They reject the concept of abiogenesis and claim that self-replicating life cannot arise from nonliving matter.
In general, creationists oppose the teaching of evolution in schools. This position is supported by numerous professional organizations, including the National Science Teachers Association, the Association for Science Teacher Education as well as the American Anthropological Association, and the Geological Society of America. However, certain academic institutions and scientists are more flexible and allow the inclusion of creationism and evolution in their curriculum.
What is Creationism in Korea?

A group called the Society for Textbook Revise (STR) is an unofficial body that is an offshoot of the Korea Association for Creation Research and has been the driving force behind the move. The STR has won its first victory by removing from textbooks examples of the evolution and ancestor of an avian, called the Archeopteryx. The next goal is to take out excerpts from Darwin’s infamous finch-research as well as on human evolution.
STR claims to have the support of 4000 families and individuals. Its goal, it says is to clear the world of what it calls "atheist materialism" which portrays an image of students as being negative. It also seeks to counter the influence of American Creationists in the nation. A survey of the newest biology teachers found that about half do not believe in evolution. The causes are not clear, but could include religion or the absence of creation scientists in the United States.
The KACR accomplished a number of things through its lectures and seminars in the past. It also publishes a bimonthly magazine called Creation and the book. One of these was an educational textbook on natural sciences that had a creationist perspective. This sparked an interest in the college community. In 1991 the year 1991, a minister and professor began teaching Creation Science in one university, and it is taught to this day.
On August 6th and 7th of 1993, KACR hosted a second International Symposium on Creation Research. This was held in conjunction with the opening of the World Expo in Daejeon. Six lecturers from the world, including ICR's John Morris, Duane Gish and Steven Austin spoke to audiences of over a thousand. KACR and its members have been delivering lectures on creation science at major seminaries, too. KACR plans to create a Creation Science Education Center in the future.
