ever since i was creating vaginal discharge at like age 11, it smelled like vinegar. i never thought anything of it because i was a kid and didn’t care what i smelled like.
now i’m 17, and the smell is still there. i’ve done research and everything points to yeast infection, but it can’t be, right? i’ve smelled like this my whole life! it’s definitely more potent at different points in my cycle but the smell never goes away.
When i was 16 and had my first sexual encounter with my current BF he noticed the smell too and i got so self conscious and took yeast infection meds just because i wasn’t sure. i told him i’ve smelled like that for my whole life and he seemed to also believe its just my smell.
keep in mind, it’s just my daily discharge that smells like this and my period blood sometimes, but when i’m fully cleaned up i don’t have an odor. (the reason my boyfriend smelled the vinegar smell too was because i had been wearing my underwear all day so there was discharge in it) My arousal fluids also don’t have this smell though, it has no smell at all.
should i be concerned, or is this just my true natural scent? i don’t eat a lot of vinegar or anything like that, i would say my diet is pretty healthy for someone in america.
Does anyone else experience an abnormal smell? it would make me feel better to know i’m not alone.
Might just have a naturally elevated pH level. I would go to a gyno to get a full examination/professional and current information.

Sounds normal to me, especially since you’ve had it since you were eleven. I had a similar concern about a “breadlike” smell but I turned out to be normal. We’re all different
I have the same smell recently - and I tested with pH value paper, it's about 4.5... not sure why...

ok so i only got my period a few days ago and i am a virgin. i never had any discharge before i got it, just lots of cramps. once i got it the blood was red, it seemed like a healthy red. about half an hour passed and the discharge was was brown! it smelled like vinegar and was very foul. i researched it and it just made me very scared. some of the results said it was healthy but others said it was a huge problem. also i’m not sure if it was the discharge that was brown or the period blood that turned brown .i haven’t told my parents yet but if i can cure it by myself i want to avoid doctors and parents.
i have masturbated before and is this the cause?
also since this is my first period does that mean that there is trouble down the line?

I think you've got nothing to worry about, since it's your first period. Brown blood is old blood, as the saying goes, and it's possible your uterus got ready to cycle last month but just didn't have the oomph to put out a full period quite yet. So the old endometrium just hung out until this first full period cleaned it  all out along with the new blood. I would assume you will have some more red flow during this period. (But even if you don't, expect your next period to be more like a full period and last a few days.) It sounds like a normal start-up experience, frankly.

And don't worry, masturbating had nothing to do with it.
