Why All The Fuss? Fridge Freezer Samsung?
Samsung Fridge Freezers With SmartThings
Samsung's Family Hub refrigerator is a 389 litre fridge with a 225 litre freezer. It's a large American-style model that has high-quality temperature control and an impressive array of intelligent features.
You can customize it with removable panels that make it fit with your collection of matte black Rick Owens clothing and tie-dye Crocs.
samsung american fridge freezer -Round Cooling
In refrigerators that have All Round Cooling, separate cooling circuits can help keep your food fresher. In conventional fridges, a single cooling evaporator cools both the freezer and refrigerator compartments. This means that the low humidity air from your freezer is circulated into your fridge and it could cause your foods to dry out. This can make food taste bland and unpleasant.
Each shelf level is equipped with multiple vents to circulate cool air. This ensures the temperature more consistently, even when you open and close the fridge door.
Optimal Fresh zone keeps meats and seafood fresher for two times longer than in conventional refrigerators without freezing. This feature is a game changer for anyone who enjoys cooking but doesn't like the hassle of thawing frozen meats or fish.
All Round Cooling employs the cooling plate made of metal at the back of the fridge to retain the cold air and stop it from escaping when you open the fridge door. It also helps to reduce the requirement for power defrosting to save time and money.
The ice dispenser found on Samsung refrigerators is among the best we've ever tested. Its patented Twist Ice Maker dispenses large cubes with just a twist, and it can be kept in the drawer below when not in use. This allows for more shelf space and makes it easier to find your favorite beverages and snacks.
With Reversible Doors, you can choose the direction that your freezer or fridge opens. This allows you to easily fit your fridge into the layout of your kitchen, while also keeping your fridge tidy and neat.
Samsung's Family Hub is the central control for your SmartThings-connected home. It is a huge touchscreen that is mounted on your refrigerator. It can show live video feeds from your smart doorbell, order groceries based on an automated inventory, or suggest recipes that make use of what you have in stock.
The flex drawers that are located on the bottom of Samsung fridges are an excellent storage solution that make it easier to store larger items such as canned drinks or trays of pizza. They can be flipped back when not in use, and folded flat to free up space. This is an excellent feature for those who like to cook and bake but are limited in their fridge storage space.
FlexZone
The Samsung FlexZone side by side refrigerator freezer features a unique 3-zone system that allows you to add an additional refrigerator compartment or freezer drawer. This flexibility lets you modify your fridge freezer to best suit your needs and storage requirements. The FlexZone module lets you upgrade your fridge to a larger or smaller size by incorporating an extra FlexZone.
The sleek design of the fridge will fit in with any kitchen decor. The stainless-steel finish is long-lasting and elegant. It also comes with an anti-fingerprint finish to keep the surface looking brand new. The refrigerator comes with an external water and ice dispenser, making it even more practical.

It's a nice-looking fridge that has an upper-right FlexZone compartment that converts from freezer to refrigerator. This lets you store items such as ice cream, bags frozen vegetables, meat or fish in the freezer. It was a great performer in our tests as well however the absence of voice control and SmartThings integration on the 21.5-inch touchscreen was a missed opportunity.
There's plenty of room to store food in the refrigerator's other drawers with two drawers for crisps and a customizable middle FlexZone drawer. The latter lets you choose between five different settings for the fridge freezer drawer depending on your preferences. This includes a freeze setting that matches the freezer settings and the soft freeze setting for wine or deli tray, a meat and fish setting as well as an alcohol setting for drinks, snacks and frequently accessed items.
This Samsung FlexZone side-by-side refrigerator is an ideal option for families that are looking for the convenience of having a freezer and fridge in one. It's not as large as top-quality French-door models but offers many useful features. This is a good choice for those with small spaces in their homes.
The Samsung Fridge Freezer is also an extremely energy efficient fridge due to its digital inverter technology. This technology regulates the temperature inside the fridge to ensure that it doesn't fluctuate too much and also keeps food fresher for longer. Its energy efficiency has earned it the ENERGY STAR Certification.
SmartThings
SmartThings isn't quite the same platform that Alexa and Google Assistant are but it does come with numerous smart devices that you can add. Samsung's TVs, phones fridges and tablets all include SmartThings. That may be enough to make it worthwhile for some, particularly if you have multiple Samsung products.
The SmartThings App is well-rounded, and polished, and includes an "if x then y" automation section that is very effective. You can set up things like an alarm that goes off when sensors detect a flooding, or turn on the lights when your phone senses that you're at home. It can also control your refrigerator by connecting it to a smart socket however, we've had mixed results with this.
SmartThings requires a hub, which is not cheap. Samsung has a number of options, including the SmartThings Station that you can attach to an existing router and use it as an nightlight. There's a lower-cost SmartThings hub dongle, which supports Z-Wave, Zigbee and Thread.
Once you've got your smart fridge with a hub, smartphone and smart fridge it's easy to use. SmartThings lets you manage your refrigerator from anywhere. Notifications are sent to your smartphone when the fridge is closed or opened. You can set up schedules as well as set the temperature and even set reminders.
SmartThings is an early member of the Home Connectivity Alliance, which is trying to make major home appliances from a variety of manufacturers compatible. In the near future, you could control your Samsung washer/dryer, Electrolux oven, and LG TV through the same application.
While it's not as well supported as Alexa or Google Assistant, SmartThings does have some big names on its list, including Arlo, Nest, Belkin and Lifx. It's also compatible with Matter, a protocol that allows accessories to be paired regardless of brand. The most effective option for people is to combine Alexa and Google Assistant.
Family Hub
A fridge freezer doesn't get much more modern than this: it's equipped with an LCD display of 21 inches inside the door, and comes with a host of smart features. You can access entertainment apps, make notes for family members (think big digital version of a notebook that's stuck to the fridge), check weather updates, and much more, thanks to Samsung's own voice assistant, Bixby.
The touchscreen also lets you to manage your food items and recipes, with the option to add ingredients directly from an app for recipes and view what's in your fridge through internal cameras. You can also create a shopping list while on the go, and monitor food items to determine when they'll expire. You can even use a dedicated recipe app that will give you instructions while you cook.
Samsung has spent a whole year working on the Family Hub fridges based on feedback from customers. You can now create separate profiles for each member of your family to allow them to customize the information and apps they can access. It's not quite as great as having Alexa integration integrated into your fridge however it's a step up on last year's model.
Besides its entertainment and grocery management capabilities, Family Hub also acts as controller for Samsung's SmartThings platform. It can be integrated into Matter-compatible devices like lights and plugs and can be used with the touchscreen to control them.
Samsung's fridge has been around for a while and, while it still has a lot of functionality, the touchscreen smarts aren't an essential feature for many people. These are more of a fun and semi-frivolous accessory than anything else.
It could change when more software updates are released, but for now these models are best for those looking for the most comprehensive connected fridge they can get. You can save money by purchasing a model that does not include the Family Hub if you're not one of those people. This could be worth it for you when you have a number of smart home appliances that require control from the same screen, or if you simply love the idea of refrigerators with a huge touchscreen.
