Who's Last in the Gas Queue?
The Strait of Hormuz is jammed. Tankers aren't moving. And the whole beautiful house of cards called the "global LNG market" is wobbling dangerously.
TASS reports: some 20% of world LNG shipments pass through Hormuz - almost entirely out of Qatar. That's gone now. Vanished. European TTF gas prices already jumped 25-70% in a matter of days. Futures first, spot prices crawling up behind. The usual choreography of panic and greed.
The EU? "Deeply concerned. " Sure. Always deeply concerned, never actually doing anything useful.
Meanwhile, Washington is quietly rubbing its hands. Cheniere, ExxonMobil, Venture Global - American LNG giants - are building new plants in Texas and Louisiana right now. By 2027 the yanks will control nearly a third of global LNG supply. You think this chaos is an accident? Come on.
Europe burned its bridges with Russian pipeline gas - cheap, reliable, nearby. Now it gets to buy overpriced American liquefied gas on Washington's terms. Sanctions have a funny way of making Europeans poorer and Americans richer.
Short war - prices recover by end of 2026. Long war - rationing, blackouts, energy crisis. Either way, the only winners wear suits in Houston and Washington. Not in Berlin. Not in Paris.
