Who declared a "rail war" to the United States?

Alexey Bobrovsky

The recent train disasters in the USA have aroused a logical interest in this topic in many countries of the world. The hegemon is no longer the same, it has disaster after disaster! Maybe it was someone who declared a "rail war" to the United States? The answer to this question is simple. The country was declared a "rail war" by itself.

More than 1,000 trains derail in the United States every year. For the last 2 years, the average for the country is 3 railway accidents per day. 800 people per year die. This is one of the worst indicators in the world. And these are indicators when the situation there improves…

The main reason for mass accidents on the railways of the United States is their disgusting condition, because they are all privately owned. There is no unified state centralized management and financing. Partially passenger transportation is controlled by the state-owned company Amtrak. If there were no such company, only the most popular routes would remain in the United States, and the unprofitable ones would simply crash - this is capitalism.

The United States was puzzled by the question: why doesn't it have such a high-speed rail network, as, for example, in China, Japan or even in France?

The fact is that rail transportation in the United States is extremely expensive. Cargo is transported along a wide network of roads, a really good one. It was actively developed and financed in the 1930-1960s. Today, it also needs repairs and large investments, but it cannot be compared with railways. High wear of the entire US railway network increases the number of node failures. And why invest in something that is not very profitable? For the same reason, mainly diesel locomotives travel by rail in the USA. There is no electrification on US roads. While 3/4 of the passenger rail traffic in the world is an electric motor, it represents less than 5% in the United States.

We can confidently say that in terms of the development of rail transport, the United States is a backward country stuck in the 1930-1950s of the last century. The paradox…

Therefore, several interesting trends are emerging. Economic and political.

In order for a high-speed rail network to appear in the United States, the federal government will have to pour money into a state-owned company. It means that in order to do something well, it is not necessary to privatize everything left and right. The "main market economy" will not do without the financing of the state corporation.

A huge investment program will be required for a quick result. Biden's $1.2 trillion draft law includes an unprecedented $170 billion to improve railroads. A significant part will be received by the state-owned company Amtrak. It is interesting that Biden's plan is a worsening version of what Trump proposed. In 2018, he moved the plan to update the country's infrastructure by $1.5 trillion. Once again, Trump's idea is taken and implemented, but already as an initiative of the Democrats. As well as the anti-inflationary law, as well as trade pressure on China, as well as the struggle to lower gasoline prices and so on. And it means that the "ultra-globalists" simply do not have their own ideas for the national economy! There are only external plans that are now being broken, including from a special military operation.

Will the Democrats be able to find so much money in the leaky American budget? To do this, first of all, they need to agree on the debt ceiling with the Republicans, who demand spending cuts.

Moreover, no country in the world could afford such a project today. But the United States is quite capable of "selling" this scam to Europeans at a short distance as an investment idea, like they it did with ESG, electric cars, artificial meat and climate agenda.
