The Fab Five were University of Michigan's recruiting class for 1991, that is considered among the greatest class ever recruited. The members of the Fab 5 were as follows - Chris Webber, Jalen Rose (both Detroit natives), Juwan Howard (a Chicago native), Jimmy King and Ray Jackson (both from Texas). They are a huge reason for the baggy shorts and swag level that you saw in the mid to late 1990's and even now.
The five players were so dominant together that although they all did not start in the team's first game, once they did no other player sneaked into the starting five for the Michigan Wolverines.
It's been 24 years since the Fab 5 (or rather Chris Webber specifically) lost their second consecutive NCAA Championship game. Here we tell you what all these Fab Five members are up to now:
The only member of the Fab Five to never suit up for the NBA. And that took a toll on him, as Jackson shared in a 2007 article with Yahoo Sports: "It took me a long time to get over the fact that I was the only one that didn't make it to the NBA from the Fab Five, but I'm over it because I'm back home and I'm happy with what I'm doing with my life."
However, on the good side, he was one of the Fab Five to not be called in front of a grand jury during the University of Michigan Basketball scandal. He was found not guilty of taking large amounts of money.
He played all four years of college and then went undrafted in the 1995 NBA Draft. He was drafted 35th overall in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA), NBA's minor league at that point. Jackson was named the CBA's Rookie of the Year and that turned some eyes in the NBA however, he was cut twice in the preseason - New York Knicks (1996) and Detroit Pistons (1997).
Where are they now? - He currently lives in his hometown of Austin, Texas and coaches basketball at his former high school.
Jimmy King - the team's starting shooting guard - was along with Ray Jackson, among the members of the Fab Five that weren't called in front of a grand jury during the University of Michigan's basketball scandal. He was also with Jackson in this respect, that the duo played all possible four years at the college before declaring for the NBA draft.
King was drafted 35th overall in the 1995 Draft by the Toronto Raptors. He played 62 games for the team before being traded the following offseason to the Dallas Mavericks. Dallas waived him and eventually signed him to a 10-day contract close to the end of the regular season. He continued to play basketball in Europe and in the CBA, where he won a championship and was named MVP in 1998.
Where are they now? - King began his coaching career in 2016 as the head coach of the Ecorse Community High School men's basketball team in Ecorse, Michigan.
Juwan Howard is the only member of the Fab Five to win an NBA Championship. He did so with the Miami Heat, not once but twice, when they beat the Oklahoma City Thunder (2012) and the San Antonio Spurs (2013) in the consecutive Finals.
He was drafted 5th overall in the 1994 NBA Draft by the Washington Bullets (now Wizards). During his 19 seasons in the league, Howard played for as many as eight teams - the Bullets, Orlando Magic, Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets, Portland Trail Blazers, Charlotte Bobcats ( now Hornets) and Miami Heat.
Where are they now? - Howard has been serving as an assistant coach to Erick Spoelstra for the Miami Heat since 2013.
Chris Webber is probably and arguably the most accomplished individual NBA player from the Fab Five. He was the only member of the college team to leave for the league after two years. He was drafted No. 1 overall pick in the 1993 NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic but was immediately traded to the Golden State Warriors .
He was named the Rookie of the Year in 1994 and has been named to five All-Star Games and All-NBA teams over the course of his 15-year career. A majority of his time in the league was spent with the Sacramento Kings, where he played a pivotal role in the team being in the upper echelon of the NBA. His career numbers read - 20.7 points, 9.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 831 games.
Where are they now? - Webber is currently a commentator and TV analyst with Turner Sports Television (TNT) and NBA TV.
Off the five, Jalen Rose is the most well-off - on and off the court. On the court, he played in the NBA for 13 years representing six teams in that process - Denver Nuggets, Indiana Pacers, Toronto Raptors, Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks and the Phoenix Suns. His most successful time as a player came with the Pacers, when he was a key member as the team made it to three straight Conference Finals in the late 1990's and the NBA Finals in 2000.
Rose was named the 2000 Most Improved Player of the Year. His career averages are as follows - 14.3 points, 3.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds in 923 games. So clearly he had played the most number of NBA games.
Where are they now? - Rose has been part of ESPN for the better part of the last decade as a game analyst on multiple NBA shows that run on the network. He is also the co-founder of the Jalen Rose Leadership Academy, which is based in Detroit Michigan.

Queer Eye continues to be a very bright spot for people who need a little comfort, love, and joy amid *gestures wildly* all this. So thank god that the Emmy-winning show is coming back to Netflix for a sixth season on December 31! And TBH, the show owes it all to Antoni Porowski , Bobby Berk , Jonathan Van Ness , Tan France , and Karamo Brown (aka the Fab Five ), who work their asses off to make sure people look/feel their best and embrace self-love.
And speaking of love, you’re probably wondering if the cast has found romance for themselves off camera. So here’s the general scoop: Karamo is embracing the single life, Antoni has an EXTREMELY hot boyfriend, and Tan, Bobby, and JVN are making married life look damn f-i-n-e. Let’s dive into the deets.
After meeting on a dating site in 2008, Tan and Rob France are happily married and live together in the great state of Utah (but obviously, they spend a ton of time chilling in L.A. and NYC due to Tan’s busy celebrity schedule). Much like Tan, Rob is a silver fox, but unlike British Tan, Rob grew up in Wyoming , where he was raised Mormon. The most fascinating thing about Rob, however, is that he’s a brilliant illustrator:
And he’s also a registered nurse! In a 2015 interview with City Weekly , Rob said, “I’m currently a full-time pediatric nurse, which I absolutely love, and I do artwork on the side. I’m passionate about women’s fashion, oddly, and horror/sci-fi films. I married a European, which is the best thing that ever happened to me, and although the world still intimidates the small-town kid in me, I try to get out and travel often.” Aw.
Tan and Rob’s love story is super cute, but their engagement was actually quite low-key. “You know, there wasn’t an actual proposal,” Tan revealed on Queer Eye. “It was a case of, ‘We’re going to get married one day, right?’ ‘Yeah, of course we are.’ We just had agreed it was going to happen one day and then we arranged the date.” Omg, guys, stop. You’re killing me.
Tan wants a crap ton of babies too. “I truly do want six. I will settle for minimum four. And no, six is not loads. It’s just enough,” he told the Press Association , which is great because he and Rob are officially parents now!
“Give our son a warm welcome. Ismail France, born July 10th. He came 7 weeks early, so he’s been in the NICU for the past 3 weeks. But today, we finally got to bring him home. We love him so, so much. Like, fully obsessed. Our surrogate is doing so great, post labor, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the greatest gift in our lives,” he wrote on Instagram.
The news of Ismail’s arrival comes four months after Tan’s iconic pregnancy announcement. “So happy to finally share that WE’RE HAVING A BABY!! No, I’m not pregnant, despite this VERY realistic pic. With the greatest gift/help of the most wonderful surrogate, Rob and I are lucky enough to be on our way to being parents, this summer. Something we’ve wanted for SOooo many years. Our hearts are so full right now. I cannot wait to hold this baby and to show him so much love,” Tan wrote in the picture’s caption, along with a hilarious photo of his and Rob’s baby “in his belly.”
Bobby and his husband, Dewey Do, have been together forever , and they’re still so in love. Not much is known about Dewey (he’s private on Instagram), so here are some fast facts for ya: He and Bobby have been married for more than seven years , they live in Los Angeles, and Dewey is a maxillofacial surgeon .
And just look at this precious throwback picture of them!!!
Also important: They appear to share a very cute dog.
Remember October 2019? Me neither, but it’s when Antoni started dating New York–based strategic planner Kevin Harrington. And casual: Their first public picture together was taken at Heidi Klum’s annual Halloween party in New York City.
Also casual: Antoni brought Kev to Taylor Swift’s 30th birthday party, where they snapped a photo with her and Gigi Hadid.
Karamo and his ex-fiancé, Ian Jordan, split in summer 2020, and he opened up to Ellen DeGeneres about the breakup (don’t worry, they’re still friends!). Karamo popped the question to Ian in May 2018. They planned for a 2020 wedding, but alas, the coronavirus paused their plans. Then after more 10 years together, the exes called it quits.
Karamo told Entertainment Tonight back in November that he was “smitten” by someone he met on Twitter but confirmed a month later that it didn’t work out. “We’re no longer talking,” he told Us Weekly . “Dating in COVID-19 is a mess, and so that is done altogether. I’m just back to fully being single.”
“I’m a hopeless romantic, and so for me, I’m always about like, how can I find someone who I can spend my moments and my time with?” he added . “You have to just find people who are like-minded and on the same page.” Truer words!
Jonathan (or JVN, as he’s affectionately known) is a newlywed! He announced the news on Instagram in December 2020, saying he married his “best friend,” Mark Peacock.
Seems like as sweet a note as ever to end on, so 😍.
You love all the deets on celeb gossip. So do we. Let’s overanalyze them together . ✔️

‘Fab Five: The Texas Cheerleader Scandal’ is a tv film that premiered in 2008 on Lifetime. Directed by Tom McLoughlin, the story is based on the real-life events that had taken place at McKinney North High School in McKinney, Texas, in 2006. A group of five teenage cheerleaders became infamous for their violation of the school rules. Coach Michaela Ward was unable to control the girls after she found out that they were creating a ruckus outside the school campus — such as partying, drinking, visiting adult stores, and posting their activities online. Even within the school premises, the Fab Five would break the decorum, disrupt classes, and resort to truancy. Ward, after being unable to deal with the problem, resigned in October 2006. She related the whole story before Lifetime Television, who then made a film based on these very events.
The mean girls who called themselves the Fab Five comprised Karrissa Theret, Danielle Billelo, Shaunika Dancy, Brittney Rader, and Elizabeth Griffin. Since the original scandal took place almost 14 years back, you might be wondering where are the teens now. How are they doing in their lives? Let’s find out.
Danielle Billelo is currently the General Manager | Chief of Staff at T. Rowe Price, Technology Development Center. She graduated from the University of Mississippi as a Bachelor
