Whitfield's Three-Decade Career with Agency

Whitfield credits her prosperity to her mom, Shelby Jean Smith. Her dad, Franklin D. Smith, passed on in an auto collision when she was 9. Shelby, a housewife with no driver's permit, gotten herself a solitary parent bringing up three youngsters.
Growing up, the chance of working for a spot like NASA never entered her thoughts. Neither of her folks moved on from secondary school, and nobody in her family had completed school. Those hindrances couldn't stop Whitfield, who proceeded to be secondary school valedictorian, acquire a higher education, and work for the U.S. Armed force prior to starting a three-decade profession with NASA.
In January, she was named HR chief at the organization's Marshall Space Flight Center, in Huntsville, Alabama.
"Life tosses you bends," she said. "I generally needed to be an educator. I do will show individuals from multiple points of view in this work. I never imagined that I would be in the position that I am. It's been a great vocation. I don't have words to portray it."
