Whoever spends any time reading content from the hapa-sphere will quickly come across a term called "white worship" which doesn't have any formal definition that I was able to find. Common sense would say the obvious that it means non-white people who worship white people but that doesn't make sense because there's no "church of white people" or "white bible" or statues of white people that non-white people buy to pray to so I've never been able to fully understand the word because of that and how inconsistently it's been used.
Some people will call an Asian woman who only dates white guys a white worshipper while also calling an Asian woman has only dated 1 white guy a white worshipper. Some will even call her a white worshipper if she's attracted to white guys but hasn't dated one. Some will even call her a white worshipper if she calls a hapa baby cute. How can someone ever avoid being called a white worshipper? Never talk to white people? Always be rude to them and never admit your attraction to one or date one?
There is one usage of the word that almost makes sense though and that is when an Asian woman gets plastic surgery to look more European. There's something obviously wrong with that, those people lack self love and it's a tragic situation especially because of how prevalent it is. But when I think about it I realize that it's not just Asians who do this, white women gets plastic surgery often too so why don't we say they're "big breast worshippers" when they get breast implants? Why don't we demonize men who prefer women with big breasts and only date women with big breasts in the same way? Or what about women who get butt implants? Do we call them black worshippers? Do we call guys who like big butts black worshippers too? None of it makes sense, to me at least.
White worshippers are basically 80% of Eurasians on r/Hapas . They define their self worth on whether or not a full white woman will give them attention.
If all they cared about was a white woman's attention they wouldn't spend most of their time complaining about Asian women dating white guys. They obviously base their self-worth on what Asian women think of them too which means it's not a white worship problem. The root problem is the externalization of self-worth which doesn't have anything to do with race.

Well you must remember that just because we cannot draw one line in the sand does not mean that the whole concept does not exist. Just like you cant always draw a line in the colour gradient to point out exactly where one colour started,does not mean that the colour is not there or does not exist, or that the whole concept is false and needs to be thrown out of the window. I would say there are definitely cases of white worship in poc. I would say in south asia (india, bangladesh, pakistan) there are many people who really value whiter skin as it is a symbol of a more affluent and better type of lifestyle of the west. Entire industries have been built to produce skin creams that capitalise on these ideas. Looking at the comments from the r/hapas it seems this is a case in korea and China too. A person who ties this subtle or overt idea of supremacy into his/her dating life, friendships, other forms of relationships then that would be white worship.This does not mean there has to be a white bible, and a white priest, and a white church and you pray to a white God. Its more about how you act.
I would say in the west too, growing up I have seen a lot of girls saying that "oh hes a white guy, of course hes going to have a hot gf" or "that hot girl looks like she would only date white girls" vibes behind people's backs. I would say this is a form of white worship. If minority girls are doing this and affecting their dating life and only dating white guys because of a percieved superiority, then that would be white worship too.
I assume you asked your question in good faith, so please assume I'm answering it to the best of my abilities in good faith too. I'm not a hapa myself, or white; just telling you how I see the situation. I don't have a horse in this race, so to speak.

The reason why I have a problem with the term is because its definition always feels like a moving target and you just perfectly illustrated another example of that. The fact that Asians assign value to lighter skin is totally independent of Europeans. If I understand it correctly the preference for lighter skin long predates European contact and the logic behind it, as you explained, has nothing to do with Europeans. It has to do with the social status of not being a laborer who gets exposed to the sun all day (but you are essentially blaming white people for the consequences of this quirk in Asian culture which they had nothing to do with). In the West it's totally opposite - if your skin is too white you are called pale which is a negative because it implies you're forced to work indoors and not take vacations to get a nice looking tan - but it would be silly to call Western culture color worshipping.

I've never experienced this before so maybe that's why I have such a hard time processing the whole concept of white worship. Look, I understand the idea that to some people race is a factor in their dating choices and some of those might have an idealized picture of whites in contrast to other races. For the sake of discussion I can even concede that most people think this way and race is the biggest factor in their dating choices. Okay, I don't think that's even remotely true but assuming it is, how do you fix that? By banning interracial relationships? Or just interracial relationships with white men? Or do you try to fix it by raising awareness of the injustice faced by Asian men because of the freedom of Asian women to "date up" according to their flawed perception? So then you're going to put Asian women and white men on blast for white worshipping. That almost seems reasonable if I assume everything you're saying is as real and prevalent as you say it is. Except for one thing. If you're truly serious about the principle of fighting inequality and injustice then you also have to go to Asia and talk about the imbalance between Northeast Asian men and Southeast Asian women relationships which are over represented compared to Southeast Asian men and Northeast Asian women relationships and how Northeast Asian men are see as more desirable. Are the same Northeast Asian men willing to be put on blast for own privilege within Asia and accept being treated the same way they are treating whites and "white worshippers"? For some reason I doubt it. I take them at their word when they say they're simply "acting in their own interests" and not actually concerned about justice.
I think that white worship is composed of the exoticization of white people and the belief that embodying the characteristics and experiences of whites will lead to some sort of personal bliss, or an attainment of a more fulfilling life. But this whole notion is confusing to me because it's not quite clear to me as to what makes somebody white. I mean, would a african albino be considered being white over black? Not likely, so it's not just superficial features that make somebody white although it's easy to imagine how they might come into play. Alexis Bledel looks like she'd identify as white, but she considers herself being Latina... I knew a Chinese guy who said he would get picked on/harassed by other Asians for being "too white" despite his monoracial ethnicity. So would he be subject to white worshippers simply because northern Chinese men might have a resemblance to white men? And if so, would it not be wrong to call these northern Chinese men white despite obviously being northern Chinese in culture and ethnicity? Or does there have to be a tint of western culture for someone to be white worshipped?
Idk if this is even a solid approach to an answer and I could be totally off but I enjoy the big questions being asked and the potential for learning it brings. I wouldn't consider a person whose values or interests align with western society and being engaged in western culture to be white worshipping, but a person who believes emulating western culture will make them somehow superior to their own culture would be white worshipping to me, so that's my whole take on it I guess.
You may not have a definition for what white is but you need to understand that it does not really matter. Human beings are not robots that work on definition alone. A lot of what humans do on a day-to-day basis is very tribal.

Depends very much on the other people's perception. If you had a mongolian friend who looked like an African American and acted liek a (stereotypical) African American in America then yes he would face some kind of discrimination by police. Similarly your chinese friend who looks very much white would be the object of white worship, yes. In a way you are falling into that trap of the OP in that there is no definite line in the sand that you are able to draw so you question the entire concept. Human beings have instincts which are influenced by our previous interaction with the world (media, politics, culture, perception, things we were taught etc.) and are not always rational and cannot always be compartmentalised perfectly. Having said that, it seems you kinda get the concept of white worship and not outright dismissing it just because you may not always understand it, so good for you i guess
If I produce a video with the races reversed - that is, a video of white women saying the exact same thing about only wanting black men then would that be proof of black worship?
