A sequel was confirmed to be in the works in March 2018. On June 30, 2019, Terry Crews confirmed a sequel on the program Watch What Happens Live. Marlon Wayans confirmed that this information was not meant to leak, and that the deal had not yet been confirmed.

The film was shot and intended to be a raunchy and vulgar R-rated comedy. However, Sony wanted the film to have mass appeal and a wider audience so the film was edited into a PG-13 film for the theatrical release. The Unrated Cut released on home video restores all the cut footage.
