What is the safest site to use to download visual novels?
Any advice on what site to download visual novels from? I'm mainly interested in katawa shoujo and little busters(the anime is great so far).

I can name at least 10 safe sites to get VN and Eroge from. If you want Otome (Reverse Harem) styled games I can also give you a site that translates them but you have to sign up and get up to a minimum of 50 posts and request to join the Otome VIP section after meeting the minimum requirement.

So like I was trying to download an eroge right, and when I was trying to download the first part it said I had to download the app or something IDK what it meant please help this is my first time.(erogedownload.com)
I like moekyun.co its a paid site but is safe and you can get hentai games from over 10 years ago.

Erogedownload.com, direct download.
Erogevn.moe used to be the best, but it seems to be shut down now; still worth keeping an eye on in case it ever comes back (which I'm doubting). Direct downloads, used Google Drive.
Hentaigamer.org, I downloaded a couple from there; seems to be fine although one of the visual novels stopped working for me. Direct download.
F95zone.to, forums. Has both direct downloads and torrents I think. Haven't used it much.
You can also find blogs with links if you search enough, they're usually direct download with Google Drive.
This ones down right now and the torrents are no longer available as a direct download like it used to have, it has links to download the torrent but its rather hassle and the site owner is monetizing for magnet links now
Can't find places to download Visual novels

I tired looking through the megathread but it isn't really helping me. I'm new to to this, sorry. I'm trying to get into visual novels of particular genres (mystery, etc) but what I always end up finding online if erogames. Are there any website where I can download VNS of different genres? Bl/gl including.
Mystery or horror non-porn visual novels will always be lumped together will the erogame visual novels, unfortunately.
Otomi-games.com has a non-eroge category, but there's only 11 pages of that category.
Ryuugames.com has categories like you want, but most of their uploads are not translated. Their boy x boy category only has 5 VNs listed; three of them are in Japanese while two are translated to English. Girl x Girl romance tag has three pages worth of VNs though.
Erogedownload.com has the most VNs listed as far as I know. If you wanna go that route, however, you'll probably want to search vndb.org for any specific VN that interests you. r/visualnovels and r/vnsuggest can probably help you decide on what game to look for. But DO NOT mention anything about piracy on those subs; they hate piracy.
I know a few other sites, but one is mostly porn and the others I keep forgetting the name of but I don't think they really upload anymore anyway. Also most of em are erogames.
