Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the top model) they employ intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture leg. They also come with carpet boost, a feature that increases the robot's power when it detects the presence of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned quickly.
Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our bare floor tests They're also particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to get caught up in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.
It's still a great option for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and can work when you're at work or at school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you have to change the mopping pad to a dry one in just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into an elegant, compact package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, though it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors to keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time to ensure better cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to similar models.

It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
This mop and vacuum combination has a sleek, circular look that looks much like a Roomba model than the bulky units of the competitors. It's among our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It has advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads on its own).
It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that has a perfect 10 in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely self-refill and empty its base station, and it has an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with an intuitive mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work or at night when you're trying to sleep.
It's also quite expensive, but it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are similarly capable and more attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however it will cost you more and produce more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features to help you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes charge of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its top competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time detection of hazards but this was not reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to accomplish the task. It also has an option known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the home based on how dirty the areas are.
If you have a bigger home, you should consider selecting a robot that comes with spot or zone cleaning mode. auto vacuum cleaner lets you inform the robot of which area of your house needs to be cleaned using the app or voice control. If you have furniture, a stair mode is also useful. Also a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.

The RX3 is more advanced than the price suggests. It is a great job cleaning, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using only one pad and a reciprocating motion that is more efficient than most mop cleaners for robots that we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying base that is washable.
The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to create an automatic spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas for better performance. The app also grants access to many features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has strong 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. And you can set up a spot clean that scours a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've tried. It also has an app that is less intuitive and has a tiny base station that does not double as a bin for emptying.
