What's The Job Market For Best Self-Emptying Vacuum Professionals?

Best Self-Empting Robot Vacuums and Mops

The Eufy 11S is one of the cheapest self-emptying robot vacuums that are available. In our tests, it was able to clean up dry oats on hard floors as well as low pile carpeting. The dust bin opens and empty easily, making it easier to use than some other models in the same price.

It recharges at its base and resumes cleaning when it's at its best. However, its obstacle-avoidance technology is caught in cords and socks, and it's not able to go below low thresholds.

1. iRobot 11S

The 11S is a less expensive self-emptying robotic vacuum cleaner that lots of people seem to like. It is great at maneuvering under furniture and seems to be a great option for those with hard floors or those who want to do light daily cleans. Its suction may be a bit weaker than the suction of our top picks, however it gets the job accomplished. It also has a large dirt bin and a battery which lasts for more than an hour. The app lets you schedule your daily cleaning chores or pick a specific room. You can also mark your home to allow the device to stay clear of areas you don't want it visit.

The app is simple to use and has an intuitive layout. It's not a feature-rich app however it's easy to use and allows you to monitor your robot's status. It comes with a tutorial that will walk you through the basics.

Its cleaning patterns don't always appear logical - sometimes it follows straight lines, while other times, it is able to find the edges of a room, however, Bounce Navigation ensures your entire floor is kept clean. It's not the greatest at navigating obstacles, though - it was unable to climb over our piano pedals and pet food bowls, and ended up getting caught in our 2.25-inch shag rug multiple times.

We believe there are better robot vacuums available than the 11S. The iRobot Roomba 694 is better-built and easier to maintain, incurs lower recurring costs and charges faster. It also has a larger dustbin and performs better on all surface types and is able to climb over low-lying obstructions (like electrical cords) more easily.

The eufy RoboVac11S is another good alternative for regular vacuuming. It has a very similar design to our top pick and is great at picking up fine dust and larger debris from hard floors. It's a great choice on low-pile or medium-pile carpet. Similar to the Roomba by iRobot Roomba it also has a very large dirt compartment and uses BoostIQ to automatically adjust suction power. It also comes with an easy-to-use remote control to use, and you can program daily cleaning routines with the app. The battery lasts about an hour and the bin can be easily empty by removing it from its dock.

2. Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra

The Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra is an excellent robot vacuum and mop with a surprisingly wide array of automation options. It comes in three options, the basic S7, the S7 MaxV Plus, and the S7 MaxV Ultra. Only the latter comes with an Empty Wash Fill Dock (or an alternative Auto-Empty Dock). These docks allow the robot to return to its home base, empty the collected debris into a dust bag or reservoir, empty the dirty water tank, and wash its mopping pads.

Sensors on the S7 collaborate to clear obstacles and clean them. It can recognize the types of floors and save a map for rooms and zones. It even detects dirt levels. It's also capable of scheduling and running spot-cleaning sessions. It was able to perform well in the standard tests, but could not match the iRobot Roomba j7+ in the carpet deep cleaning test.

You can program the S7 with the companion app to run a cleaning routine according to your schedule. You can choose a time day, week, or even a day, as well as select among a range of cleaning modes like automatic, eco, and deep clean. You can also choose whether the robot will cease operation if its power is exhausted or in the event of an obstacle.

robot vacuum with auto empty can still use the S7 if you don't own an iPhone by connecting the charging dock to a remote control. The controls can be confusing initially, but they work well once you get used to them. The power button acts as the 'Cleaning' option, and the Spot Clean button instructs the robot to clean up an area around it. The "Spot Clean" button also triggers the child lock.

Roborock's mobile application has been improved to include a live view function that lets you see what the S7 does at home. You can activate it by pressing a certain sequence of buttons on your S7, and then create an unlock pattern within the mobile app that you can use whenever you wish to see what the S7 is doing.

3. Shark IQ SX

Shark isn't as well-known for its robot vacuums as iRobot and Roborock, but our tests on Shark has proven it to be one of the top self-emptying robot vacuums currently on the market. It's easy to set up and has a large bin that is able to be easily empty (albeit loudly) into a trashcan once full. It can also be programmed to clean your entire house on a set schedule.

The IQ XL is able to connect to your WiFi at home, allowing you to monitor its progress in cleaning using the Shark app. The app allows you to create a cleaning schedule and also receive push notifications on its status as well as pause cleaning and then resume cleaning or set it for only one area. You can also control it using voice commands using Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. The app will tell you which power mode is currently selected - Eco, Maximum, or Normal - but we found that none of these settings made a noticeable difference in the cleaning performance.

After it has completed a cleaning cycle after which the IQ XL will automatically empty the dustbin into its base, and it automatically emptys itself. The bin can hold up to 60 days of debris so it won't be required to empty it more than once, unless your pets have long hair. If you do need to empty it, you can simply detach the side container, hold it over your trash bin and push the button.

The Shark IQ XL is a great vacuum cleaner. It does a great job cleaning floors that are not bare and can move well. However the Shark IQ XL feels a bit less sturdy than the Roomba 694. It does a good job of cleaning carpeted floors however, it's not as effective as the iRobot Roomba i7 in terms of the performance of bare floors. The i7 is also built better and feels more durable and robust, has less demanding maintenance requirements, is able to charge lower costs for recurring expenses, is faster to charge, and offers comparable battery performance and the most advanced automation features, such as no-go zones as well as the ability to pick specific rooms to keep clean.

4. iRobot J7+

This robot mop/vac combo is a rarity as it does both jobs very efficiently. IRobot's Combo J7+ comes with all the smarts of its j7 counterpart, including self-emptying and LiDAR mapping but with additional features for mopping and vacuuming.

The j7+ utilizes the latest acoustic sensor technology to determine the type of floor, so that it can vacuum or mop the room on its first pass. This information is also used to prioritize cleaning rooms with carpets and carpets versus rooms with hard flooring.

Like many robotic vacuums, the j7+ is quiet while it's running. It's quieter when mopping. The maximum reading on our decibel meter was 64db, which is similar to the sound of normal office chatter.

You can easily set up a cleaning schedule and alter what happens when the dust canister gets full. The j7+ is also controlled by voice assistants, such as Alexa, Google Assistant and other. The app lets you create and view maps in your home.

The j7+ performed well in our tests on carpeted and hard floors, removing all the dirt we tossed at it. It isn't the best at dealing with pet hair as well as large debris such as sand, however it can remove these items with a little extra effort. It has excellent navigational capabilities and two cliff sensors to stop it from falling down stairs or getting caught on furniture legs.

We did find a couple of small niggles with the j7+, mostly that it could snag cords and carpets, and it doesn't always turn off its mopping when finished vacuuming. This is a great model that ticks all the boxes.

The j7+ by iRobot is one of the best self-emptying systems we've seen. It drops its 14oz/0.4-liter dust canister in the base station, where it automatically emptys for you. This reduces the amount of trash you need to get rid of. You will only have to replace the bag on the dock every 60 days, depending on how frequently you use the J7+.
