What is off-page SEO

Off-page SEO

Off-page SEO refers to strategies that you can use to improve website ranking in search engine results pages (SERPs). Many people associate off-page SEO with link building but more than that.

Typically, Off-Page SEO is related to promotional methods - other than website content - with the aim of elevating the website to a higher ranking in search results.

Why is Off-Page SEO Important?

Search engines have been trying for decades to find a way to bring back the best search results.

To achieve this, they look at the many SEO features on the page (described below), some quality features, and the off-page SEO features.

Off-page SEO gives them a very good indication of how the World (other websites and users) perceive a particular website.

A high quality and useful website may also have references (backlinks) from other websites. It is very likely that there will be a product mention on social media (Facebook likes, tweets, PINs, etc.) and it is possible to bookmark and share between like-minded user communities.

All of these features provide 'green light' to search engines to rank a website at the top of results.

Off-page SEO benefits

An effective off-page SEO strategy will generate the following benefits for website owners:

Rate - This is the most important benefit of off-page SEO. The website will be higher in the SERPs and this also means more traffic.

PageRank Increases - Page rank is a number between 0 and 10 indicating the importance of the website in the eyes of Google.

It is a program developed by Larry Page and Sergey Brin (founders of Google) and is one of the reasons why Google is so successful in displaying the most relevant search results.

Page rank today is just one of the 250+ features that Google uses to measure websites.

High exposure - Higher levels also mean higher exposure because when a website is ranked high: it gets more links, more visits, and much more social media mention. It is like a series of endless events in which one thing leads to another and then to another.

Trustworthiness - In addition to the above, Google recently introduced the concept of Expertise, Authority, and Trustworthiness (E-A-T), which plays a key role in rankings and is directly related to off-page SEO.

In simple terms, Google seeks to measure websites that reflect expertise and authority on the topic, and one of the ways to ensure that websites are aligned with reliable algorithms, is because the number and type of incoming links.
