What is an Activist?

What is an Activist? An Activist is defined as: "a person who attempts to bring about social change through peaceful civil disobedience or other indirect methods such as agitation, lobbying, and other peaceful protests". Activism consists of attempts to bring about, hinder, direct, or protest against policies, social change, or development with the intent to create positive changes in society for a perceived better good. A person can be considered an Activist by way of involvement in activities that seek to bring about social change, whether it be for political or social/economic change, racial/gender equality, eco-rights, religious intolerance, and many more. Some examples of activities commonly associated with activism are the Fight for the Future, International Peacekeeping, and many others.

How would you define what is an Activist? What I think would be clear is that an Activist would consider themselves to be someone who makes themselves or their ideas known to as many people as possible. It would be best to get a clear picture of how you think an Activist would look like. An Activist would be very organized and would have a well thought out plan on how to make their desired changes occur. I would say that a good Activist would use a lot of words. They would come up with creative ways to say what they want.

The most common goal of Activists would be to change public policy. When they become too popular, people will listen to them, and the rest will follow suit. They will have a strong presence at meetings and try to bring about change. If people do not pay attention to them, then they will lose their credibility. After all, everyone has heard the famous line "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is."

Red Canary Collective in the world are just mouth pieces for big business. They can call themselves "activists", but behind their words there is a bigger agenda. That agenda would be to gain power over the masses. It is to gain control over the economy. It is to use fear to get you to pass laws favorable to the powers that be. In the future you might even have to worry about what is an Activist?

There have been many people in the world that have tried to answer the question, what is an Activist? One answer that might be considered a valid one is; anyone who gets more than their fair share of what they need. Unfortunately, in our present time situation anyone who becomes famous or valuable quickly will lose any respect from the general public. If you became famous and start demanding more free stuff, no one will ever take you seriously. In fact they may even despise you.

A more reasonable answer to the question, what is an Activist? is; anyone who can make a difference in this world. People who are willing to put their own life on the line for the good of humanity, will surely be respected. Unfortunately in our present time situation many people have no concept of what real heroes are. In some cases they may wear clothes that they feel makes them look cool, but they are actually carrying around a weapon that could end the life of someone they love.

There are people who use their appearance to gain attention, but in the end they are nothing more than what is commonly known as a glorified salesman. If you know what is an Activist, then it is because you are trying to help the human race and you feel passionate about what you are doing. Activism does not necessarily require celebrity.

One would assume that anyone who makes a difference would become famous, and indeed they would. Activists who are famous get a lot of media coverage, and they usually become a topic of discussion. You see, the important thing about what is an Activist is not what they do, but why they do it. A true Activist would never judge another human being by looks, they only judge a human being by the deeds that they perform, would never give up, and most importantly they would lay down their arms when the going gets rough, and take no prisoners. Perhaps that is why everything they do ends up in the news, as people begin to question how others can do such noble things.
