What is a Cabinet Cooler?

Our electrical cabinet panel coolers are a simple, reliable and inexpensive method to cool and climatize all types of electrical panels and enclosures. The Supreme Air Electrical Panel Cooler is an efficient pneumatic product designed to separate regular compressed air into hot and cold air streams. The coolers require only compressed air to work, so there is no need for harmful refrigerants and freon gas. They offer the ideal solution to cooling many types of enclosures and electrical cabinets with large cooling capacities up to 7200 BTUs.

How does a Cabinet Cooler work?

The cooler mounts vertically on top of the cabinet through a standard knockout hole. The cooler comes with a locking ring that locks it in place.

The compressor air line connects to the cooler via a 1/4 NPT fitting.

As compressed air enters the cooler, the integrated vortex tube separates the air into hot and cold air streams.

The vortex tube's hot steam is emitted into the atmosphere through a muffler, which produces low levels of noise.

The cold air enters the electrical cabinet though an outlet tube located at the bottom of the cooler.

As the cold stream enters the electrical cabinet, the hot air within the cabinet starts to rise and is gradually purged through the cooler.

We also offer an optional cold air distribution kit which connects to the cooler's outlet tube and allows the user to direct the cold stream to specific hot spots within the cabinet. All Supreme Air Products electrical panel coolers are made from stainless steel, which ensures durability.

Specifications for Cabinet Coolers

Mounting:

Supreme Air Products(tm) Cabinet Cooler must be vertically mounted on a flat surface for all enclosure types. A 1-1/8" diameter hole or electrical knockout can be used to mount an electrical cabinet cooler unit. The locking ring holds it in place. For those coolers that cannot be mounted on top of cabinets due to height restrictions, we offer side mount kits.

Humidity:

It is important to close off any openings and vents that may bring in ambient air, especially in warm, hot, or highly humid environments. The relative humidity inside the enclosure stabilizes at 45% for all continuously operating Cabinet Coolers

Filtration:

Clean filtered air should be used on all lines that power the Cabinet Cooler. A 5 micron auto drain filter is recommended. Proper filtration is imperative to prevent any accidental water flow into the enclosure. Use an oil filter that has a minimum of 0.3 micron rating if oil is found in compressed air.

Environmental Considerations

NEMA 4/4X (IP56) - Designed for Electrical Control Panels - Splash resistant, oil-tight, and dust-proof for use in wash down environments as well as outdoor use. For long-lasting use in wet environments, coolers are made of Type 304 Stainless Steel.

NEMA 12 (IP52 - Cabinet Coolers are oil-tight and dust-proof. They can be used in environments that allow liquids to not come into direct contact with the unit. Coolers are constructed of Stainless Steel (Type 304) to withstand harsh corrosive environments.
