What is The Future of Blogging? - The Facts You Should Know to Start Blogging

Tamal Kr. Chandra

I've been a blogger for almost a decade now. And when I first started, it looked like blogging was going to be the next best thing in online marketing.

But what's with all the doom and gloom?

Well, people have been telling bloggers that blogging is dead since 2010 . So you can understand why I might be skeptical when I see headlines like this.

I've seen quite a few bloggers write about how blogging is dying, and their evidence seems to be that (1) they aren't making any money with their blog; (2) blogging doesn't work anymore; or (3) no one reads blogs anymore .

Now, if you look at my own experience, those arguments don't make a lot of sense.

I've been making money from blogging since 2009. And I know plenty of other bloggers who do the same – people who have been blogging for years and are still going strong.

Could blogging be dying?

Well, I wouldn't say that either. In fact, I'd say blogging is thriving.

And while some people may be seeing signs of blogging's death everywhere they look, the truth is that the coming years will be your best chance yet to make money with a blog.

So what does the future of blogging look like? Here are five ways it's looking brighter than ever before.

1. You Can Make Money Blogging

Some bloggers were surprised by Google's recent changes to their ads. But for most bloggers, these changes shouldn't have come as a surprise at all .

Why?

Well, because the future of blogging is really about making money with your blog. And if you can make money blogging, then you don't need AdSense.

So what is the best way to make money blogging?

That's a great question, and one that I've been thinking about a lot lately. And while there isn't any single strategy that works for everyone, here's something we can all agree on:

Blogging is not a get-rich-quick scheme.

But there is a way to make some extra money from your blog – and it's something I use with all my own blogs. In fact, once you try it out, you'll be hooked.

This strategy allows me to monetize every single blog that I run.(Including this one.) And here's the best part:

I can use it to make money blogging with any topic, niche or format.

So what is this strategy? Well, I'm glad you asked – because it's one of the most important things you will ever learn as a blogger.

And if you're looking for more information on how to monetize your blog, don't forget to check out my How to Make Money Blogging?

2. Most of the Tools You Need are Now Free

Yes, it's true.

There are now more free tools available to bloggers than ever before .

And these aren't just resources that were once paid and have now been made free.

These tools all work from the cloud, so there's no need to download anything or install any software on your computer.

And these aren't just random tools either. Bloggers are now able to choose from hundreds of blogging-specific applications that help them blog better and faster . They can also use these tools to help them make more money with their blog.

And since these tools are web-based, you can use them from any device. So if you start your business on a Mac, but then decide to post pictures from your iPad or iPhone, that won't be a problem.

Even though, some tools are not free, there is a free trial option that you can try without paying any money.

Overall, it makes it easy to keep blogging for profit.

3. The Competition is Stiffer

It's no secret that the blogging competition has never been tougher .

And what this means for you is that if you are serious about making money with your blog, then you need to be serious about improving your skills.

You will never be able to compete with other bloggers by being "just another blog". This is the equivalent of running a local business and competing with Amazon.com. It just won't work.

But what you can do is differentiate yourself from other bloggers by investing in your skills and providing real value to your readers.

Because while there are lots of:

…blogs publishing new content every single day, very few of them are actually providing their readers with any real value.

And for those who are providing real value, it's probably not sustainable unless they have a way to monetize their blog.

The bottom line?

You can't compete with other bloggers without first investing in your skills . And the best part is that since blogging is such a hot industry, there is more demand than ever for talented bloggers.

4. The Competition is Getting Tougher Every Day

Although it's true that the blogging competition has gotten tougher over the last few years, I don't see this trend changing anytime soon .

Even today, some of the best and most recognizable brands are still using blogs as a way to market their company, service or product.

What this means for you is that if you want to stay ahead of the curve and make money blogging, then you need to be serious about investing in your skills . Just like any industry, blogging is a cutthroat business where only the strong survive.

And while it's true that anyone who is willing to put in the effort can make money blogging, it's also true that not everyone will succeed.

The difference between those who fail and those who succeed has more to do with their work ethic than anything else.

5. The Competition is Dominating Social Media

There's a lot of talk about how blogging is dead.

But if you look at the reality, there are more content producers publishing new content every single day than ever before.

What this means for you is that even though it can feel like you're competing with a ton of other bloggers, it's all relative.

The truth is that there are now more businesses than ever before who understand the value of blogging and have realized that they need to be blogging if they want to stay ahead of their competition .

And if you look at any given day, that means that there will always be a significant amount of new blogs posting content for everyone to read.

So while it is true that the competition has gotten significantly tougher, there are also more opportunities than ever before.

And this brings us to our next point…

Blogging is not dead. In fact, the future of blogging is quite bright. So, if you haven't started a blog yet, you should definitely consider doing so.

Here's a complete step-by-step guide to start a blog.

As a matter of fact, blogging has become such a popular way to make money online that even some people who weren't interested in blogging have created blogs as a result. In other words, it's never going to be a wrong choice if you decide to create a blog now and keep blogging.
