1. Misled / Mislead

Original Sentence: "We've been completely misled about the humanities."

Basic Form: Mislead

English Definition (Mislead): To give someone false information or make them believe something that is not true.

Persian Definition (Mislead): آدرس غلط دادن، کسی رو به اشتباه انداختن، گول زدن.

آدرس غلط بهمون دادن، گولمون زدن، یا باعث شدن اشتباه فکر کنیم.

Example Sentence (Mislead): Companies sometimes use tricky wording to mislead their customers.

2. Impractical

Original Sentence: "Somewhere along the way, we decided as a culture that fields like history, literature, philosophy, and art history are impractical."

English Definition: Not sensible or realistic for everyday use; not effective in real-world situations.

Persian Definition: غیرکاربردی، به درد نخور تو عمل، چیزی که تو دنیای واقعی و روزمره جواب نمیده.

Example Sentence: Wearing high heels on a mountain hike is totally impractical.

3. Discernment and Discerning

Original Sentence: "...what we need is people who have taste, perspective, discernment." (Later in text: "They make you more discerning.")

English Definition: The ability to judge well; being able to understand and figure out things that are not obvious or separate the good from the bad.

Persian Definition: قدرت تشخیص بالا، اینکه بتونی خوب و بد یا درست و غلط رو از هم سوا کنی، گیرایی بالا.

Example Sentence: You need a lot of discernment to choose the right people to trust in business.

4. Grounding

Original Sentence: "And those people almost always have some kind of grounding in the humanities."

English Definition: Basic training, instruction, or a solid foundation of knowledge in a specific subject.

Persian Definition: بیس و پایه یه چیزی رو داشتن، اطلاعات اولیه و اساسی.

Example Sentence: Before you write a novel, it helps to have a good grounding in English grammar and storytelling.

5. Contextualize

Original Sentence: "People know things, but they don't always know how to contextualize them."

English Definition: To consider something together with the situation, background, or events related to it, in order to understand it better.

Persian Definition: یه چیزی رو تو شرایط و بستر خودش سنجیدن، ربط دادنِ یه موضوع به پس‌زمینه‌اش تا بشه دقیق‌تر فهمیدش.

Example Sentence: To understand why he was so angry yesterday, you have to contextualize his reaction with the fact that he just lost his job.

6. Prioritizes

Original Sentence: "And I think that's part of why they feel threatening in a culture that prioritizes speed and consumption."

English Definition: To treat a specific task, idea, or thing as being more important than others.

Persian Definition: تو اولویت گذاشتن، یه چیزی رو از بقیه چیزا مهم‌تر دونستن و جلو انداختنش.

Example Sentence: If you want to pass the exam, you need to prioritize studying over playing video games.

7. Fluffy

Original Sentence: "They make you harder to impress with fluffy nonsense."

English Definition: Lacking real substance, depth, or seriousness; superficial.

Persian Definition: حرفای قشنگ ولی توخالی، بی‌محتوا و الکی، چرت و پرتِ صد تا یه غاز.

Example Sentence: The article I read was just a piece of fluffy journalism with no real facts or deep analysis.

8. Infrastructure

Original Sentence: "I actually think they're your intellectual infrastructure."

English Definition: The basic underlying framework or foundation of a system, organization, or concept.

Persian Definition: زیرساخت، همون پایه و اسکلت اصلی که بقیه چیزا روش سوار می‌شه.

Example Sentence: The country needs to invest more money in its transportation infrastructure, like fixing roads and bridges.
