❗️ Secret chats are special end-to-end encrypted chats. That means that nobody else than the sender and the recipient can read the messages – not even Telegram.
⚒ Secret Chats are made for those of you who want to send intimate information over Telegram and don’t trust Telegrams strong encryption for normal chats.
⏱ If you want to, you can set a self-destructing timer after which the message deletes itself – on all devices. The countdown starts when the recipient opened the message and can last from 1 sec to 1 week. This means that you are able to send self-destructing pictures just like you are used to on Snapchat.
📸 In secret chats, you cannot forward any messages or take screenshots of the text (Android 6.0+. iPhones do support screenshots until now) which creates a good feeling for the sender if the content is very privat. Pictures can still be shared (not forwarded) if the destructing time was set over 30 seconds.
Both participants are able to delete messages/pictures/… from both parties after sending them – even the ones that have already been read by the recipient.
