We live in turbulent times. Just recently, the battle against Covid-19 ended and life began to return to normal. But then Russia attacked Ukraine, people were killed and there were new waves of refugees. Ukraine was supposed to liberate its territories in 2023, but the war continues...
On October 7, there was a wild Hamas attack on Israel with hostage taking and terrible retaliatory bombing of urban areas of the Gaza Strip. A month later, a referendum was held in Venezuela in support of Venezuela's claims to the Essequibo region of Guyana. The fighting in Guyana had not yet begun, but another crisis was unfolding. The Houthis, backed by Iran, blocked the trade route to the Red Sea and the Suez Canal. The Western coalition led by the United States is attacking the Houthis, but merchant ships have to sail around Africa on their way to Europe...
Recently, several US military personnel were killed in a rocket attack by Iranian-controlled militants. A military operation against Iran is being discussed in the United States... The situation with Taiwan is still unclear. Will China decide to go to war or continue to try to establish control through "secret diplomacy"?
There is also discord in the EU. Brexit is already over, fascists have come to power in Italy, Hungary and now Slovakia are blackmailing and blocking the work of the EU. There is an internal political conflict in Poland...
It's also uneasy in Germany. Economic slowdown, falling living standards, dissatisfaction with immigration policy, farmer protests, railway strikes... Many people are afraid of the growing influence of "Alternative for Germany" and other Nazi groups...
The world we know it is collapsing. What's happening? Why is it happening? When will it end? What can be done? After all, the highest levels of life, freedom and security are achieved here in the West. And although there has been a erosion of Western values over the last half century, the standard of living here is still the highest, attracting migrants from all over the world.
How can Western values be preserved, enhanced and made desirable again for everyone? How can we boost the economy to improve our falling living standards? In addition, resources will be needed to boost the economies of poor countries. Otherwise, migrant flows will flood the West.
It is necessary to increase military spending. Not so long ago, an attack on NATO would have been unthinkable. Now, world war scenarios are being discussed at NATO headquarters as well as in Russia, China and Iran... In addition, the new economy must provide the means to solve environmental problems.
Trying to answer all these questions and challenges is a long journey with adventures along the way.
