YOUTUBER Zoella has been dropped from the GSCE syllabus after she posted saucy vibrator reviews.
In a letter to teachers, AQA - a UK exam board - said she would be removed from its media studies curriculum.
Now 30, Zoe Sugg became one of the UK’s first social media stars when she started uploading videos to YouTube in 2009.
She has accumulated 1.1million followers on Instagram and a whopping 15million on YouTube.
But now the star has been axed from school syllabuses after an article called 'The Best Sex Toys to Spice Up Your Life in 2021' appeared on her website.
In the letter Sandra Allan, head of curriculum for creative arts said Zoella will be axed from future syllabuses because "some of Zoella's recent content is aimed specifically at an adult audience and not suitable for GCSE students."
She added that parents and teachers have also expressed concern.
She said: "We share these concerns so we're now taking the necessary steps to remove Zoella from our 2021 and 2022 assessment materials."
Zoella is included in AQA's current Close Study Products booklet, but Allan says these will be removed immediately.
She continued: "We recognise that students may already have studied Zoella for 2021 or 2022.
"As you know, there won't be exams this summer — and we won't penalise any students who make references to her in their exam responses in 2022."
In a statement, Allan told Insider : "GCSE Media Studies includes the analysis of online and social media and we added Zoella in 2017.
"At the time, all her content was appropriate for teaching, but some of Zoella's recent content is aimed specifically at an adult audience and isn't suitable for GCSE students.
"As a result, we've removed the section on Zoella from the course, and we've contacted our schools and colleges to let them know."
One teacher who teaches Media Studies also told Insider they thought the removal for GCSE pupils was "understandable" but he believes it should be allowed to remain on the A-Level syllabus.
He said: "Many of the young people are already familiar with Zoella and are likely to encounter this kind of article anyway.
"While I can see how these topics could be handled badly, discussing them in a safe manner is part of the job of being a teacher."
A spokesperson for Zoella told The Sun: "As a woman in her 30s who has been creating content online for over 10 years, Zoe has naturally matured and evolved in that time, as have her audience.
“The article appeared on Zoella.co.uk , the lifestyle website that was originally founded by Zoe and is now curated by her and her team covering topics from mental health, fertility, sex, recipes, books, beauty and fashion.
“The website is primarily targeted at their largest demographic of 25-34 year old women."

MILLIONAIRE YouTube star Zoella has been criticised by an MP for using taxpayers’ money to furlough her office manager.
The online influencer, real name Zoe Sugg, is believed to have claimed thousands from the public purse despite doing some big-money deals during lockdown.
Zoella, 30, placed £25,000-a-year Holly Macey on the state bail-out programme designed to help companies in trouble in March.
Tory MP Andrew Bridgen described it as “outrageous”, saying: “It seems very odd to me that a company which operates online should have made this claim as online businesses have done very well during lockdown.
“I would expect the department concerned to take a close look at the circumstances and if there’s been any kind of work done by this employee, the money should be paid back.”
In the last two weeks Zoella has posted Instagram ads to her 9.2m followers for Sky TV, hair care brand Function of Beauty and fashion giants Zara and All Saints.
Thought to be worth over £5million, she has also signed deals to promote BMW, GHD, Etsy and Spotify.
Zoella charges £20,000 for a sponsored post on Instagram and can fetch up to £25,000 for ads on her YouTube videos, where she has 16million subscribers.
Holly’s role in Zoella’s company AtoZ Creatives is believed to include organising parties and events, wrapping presents and taking Zoella's pet pug Nala for walks.
The 26-year-old featured in one of Zoella’s Instagram stories yesterday loading pumpkins into a van.
Zoella’s agent Maddie Chester told Mail Online : “I can confirm that the A-Z office manager Holly Macey has benefited from the government furlough scheme due to the A-Z office being shut since mid March.
“Zoe and Holly are very good friends and do a lot of activities outside of work such as pumpkin picking yesterday.”
Zoella, who is dating fellow vlogger Alfie Deyes, is director of several businesses including Zoe Sugg Ltd, Pippin Productions, ZS Beauty and ZS Lifestyle.
She lives in a four-storey mansion in Brighton and owns a fleet of cars including a Range Rover and a Mini Cooper.
Her website attracts seven million clicks a month and £50k worth of ads per year, while her debut novel Girl Online set records for the highest-ever first-week sales.
The furlough scheme, launched in March, pays up to 80 per cent of employees’ salaries up to £2,500 a month.
Since the end of July, businesses have been rewarded with £1,000 for every employee they brought back to work.
More than 80,000 firms have since returned £215million claimed under the scheme.
John O’Connell, from the TaxPayers' Alliance, said: “Lockdown had a massive impact on the economy and now every penny counts. Some businesses have repaid the support offered to them by taxpayers.
"They should serve as an example for other firms that have come through the past year in rude health.”
Victoria Beckham reversed a decision to furlough 30 staff at her fashion label in April after a public outcry.
Sir Phillip Green also apologised over plans to exploit a furlough loophole and rake in millions while axing 300 staff.
The business tycoon's retail empire begged for forgiveness last night after being branded "morally and ethically bankrupt" by its own employees.
Earlier this year, Zoella was rapped by the Advertising Standards Authority for plugging an ASOS dress on Instagram without stating she was being paid.

Can’t say I’m surprised whatsoever.
Some of the products that were out for Xmas 2018 were just straight up embarrassing; two 25g bath melts (chunks of cocoa butter) for £7 and a sachet of “bath milk” (scented white powdered bubble bath) for £5.
i feel really sad when i see zoe these days. i used to really like her during her “peak”, but i don’t think she was made for the level of popularity she achieved.
if anyone watches her regularly still, i feel like it’s clear she’s depressed and stuck in life. i can’t imagine what she’s going to do next, but i hope she can actually find something she has passion for because she’s definitely lacking it.
rant aside, i think it’s good she’s dropping it because it was obvious it was just becoming repetitive and not that successful. plus, having “zoella” smacked on everything gave it a very childish feel.
She did an interview recently with the daily mail and said she suffers from imposter syndrome.
She also mentioned many times that the wants a ring and bump by 30 and Alfie has made it clear that her doesn't want to get married soon and wants kids before marriage. So she's definitely at crossroads now.
Her brand never felt serious to me as well, it always felt like an upscale Claire's accessories brand to me. You could tell she never really uses her own products. For example had brand had various bath bombs, but she only ever seemed to use lush. It'll be interesting to see what her next venture is.
I think her issue is that she doesn’t know who her target audience is anymore. Or maybe she does know (i.e. people her age), and is scared to change her content because she’ll alienate her current audience. She has a lot of young subscribers but I’d love to see the real, grown up Zoe. I’ve been enjoying the new content that Alfie’s been putting out - hopefully she’ll take a leaf out of his book.
Yeah, she hasn't uploaded on her main in months and her vlogs have an undertone of boredom and sadness to them. Maybe she wants to settle down and have kids now? I think her and Alfie are cute, hopefully they can stick together
Oh God. She's still dating Alfie?? I never watched her too regularly, but remember really disliking him he seemed so immature and this was ... Years ago now.
I mean she started all this when she was just a teen. It's got to be hard, she doesn't know anything else to life.
I’m so glad you said this. I thought I was the only one!
She reminds me a lot of Michelle Phan. I think her YT days are over and she should transition into something else.
Same and no shade, either. Kind of like what Marzia did. I'm not sure exactly what Marzia's doing but she had said she was no longer happy on youtube and quit. Her and Felix (Pewdiepie) recently did a Q&A on his channel and she seemed happy so that's great! I wonder if quitting YT would do the same for Zoe.
At around the 18 minute mark to the 24 minute mark. Zoella announces and discusses why she won't be continuing with Zoella beauty. Her and the licensing company do not see eye to eye anymore when making products. A final range comes this summer and a Christmas gifting range. She has had Zoella beauty for 5 years. What's your thoughts on this situation?
I had a body scrub from her and it was very nice but I can get good scrubs for cheaper or use a lufa glove. I was a fan of Zoella and I would still watch her should she upload to her main channel but I'm not here for the vlogs. Maybe I'll watch them sometime but I'm not sure. It feels like an end of an era but I guess it wasn't genuine since she and the licensing company don't even see each other and she probably makes no decisions regarding the products.
Probably no decision with the price either, I'm guessing. Maybe the advent calender fiasco could have some influence on this decision?
Does Tanya burr cosmetics still exist? I checked online and only saw two products. I haven’t watched her in forever. I feel like she wasn’t as popular and i don’t know if anything was ever available in the US.
Think it's gone. Haven't seen anything in stores for awhile and her website is down always :/
Wow what a blast from the past! I forgot that line even existed!
Ha, I think I actually have one of her nail polishes I grabbed in a sale at Superdrug just before (or after??) Christmas some years ago.
