The adult world has received some bad news yet again. Just weeks after Tumblr implemented a blanket ban on adult content, another popular hentai porn site – Hentai Haven (HH) has closed down.
The website http://www.hentaihaven.org is no longer working, and neither is its Twitter and Facebook accounts. The site has been down since Dec 19 and even the official HH merchandise official page, despite being operational even when the main site was shut down, has also been removed. What’s more, even Google has excluded the site from its index. It appears the site has been completely wiped out of the internet.
We may never know the real reasons behind the shutdown unless the founders offer a clarification. The site only gave a vague explanation as to why it was shutting down: “As a wise man once said, every journey must come to an end – and unfortunately, it ain’t the happy kind this time. There’s plenty of options out there now,” reads part of the official statement.
Following the unfortunate event, people have been speculating with different theories brought forth. Some are claiming a Russian interference and are seeing the shutdown as an attempt by the Russian government to prevent people from accessing adult content. Pornhub statistics indicate that Russia is one of the largest consumers of hentai porn. However, there has been no official statement from Moscow, yet we are not expecting one either.
Another explanation is the tightening laws regarding porn content. According to the hacker group- Anonymous the site’s servers were hosted in Australia and the country has been coming down hard on porn which could be another reason as to why HH was shut down. Meanwhile, a Reddit thread claims that a HH alternative is in development and with top-tier videos quality.
Legal issues could also be a reason for the shutdown. It is to be remembered that the site lost its ‘loli’ tag due to legal reasons and Google may have received copyright complaints against HH.
There have been some positive movements behind the scenes since I wrote this piece. It appears Fakku have stepped in to try and help keep Hentai Haven online for a little longer. Just a few days ago, it looked certain to be a bad ending to 2018 for HH, but it appears there might be some reprieve after all!
If you visit the official HentaiHaven.org website, you will see a notice from the owners with a simple message: “We’re teaming up with FAKKU to save HH! More details soon.” The goodbye message left by the site has also been cancelled. Fakku is an adult digital content distribution network and they are likely teaming up with HH to stream their content while also availing adult oriented games from the digital storefront. Just a few weeks after Tumblr announced a blanket ban on everything adult/NSFW/explicit , popular Japanese adult entertainment service Hentai Haven has also been shut down.
Yes, the service is dead. The official Twitter handle is also gone, although Facebook page exists. The official website wasn’t responding initially, but now it has the following message:
HH was born during a time when fansubs were pretty much dying. New shows were subbed weeks after release, most sites had lackluster interfaces and didn’t give a crap about the content they were putting out.
But as a wise man once said, every journey must come to an end – and unfortunately, it ain’t the happy kind this time. There’s plenty of options out there now. Fansubs are faster than ever. Streaming sites are better than ever. There’s no longer a real need for HH. We’ve done our part. Now it’s up to the rest of you to carry the torch.
Thank you for visiting and supporting us over the years. It’s been a wild ride. And you will all be sorely missed. Sayonara.

Of course, there is this question that why this sudden shutdown? We at PiunikaWeb did some research for you, and found an anime news blog claiming that Russia could be behind this shutdown.
Yes, the website cites its sources who claim the Russian government did this in order to prevent their people from accessing Hentai adult content. The step was taken after Pornhub – world’s biggest adult entertainment site – recently revealed Russia is the biggest consumer of Hentai in the whole world.
Of course, there’s no official word from Russia or any credible source on this at the moment.
Moving on, a Twitter user shared a screenshot containing some text allegedly from the HH owner. As you can see in the screenshot below, the owner funnily claims the site is being shut down as they need to repay loan for their new fursuit.
Of course, this is least likely to be the real reason, and is possibly even not from the HH owner as well. So we suggest you don’t believe this.

Moving on, someone who claims they frequent a Discord group (where HH related discussion happen) said they got to hear this:
Well I’m in the discord server and we’re told the site will stay down and we all should stop asking about it. No joke, he basically told us to shut the f*&^ up and stop asking. We have been fed no info as to why it has been shut down as financial and struggle of power have been debunked many times. Doesn’t help that the Facebook and Twitter have also been deleted, so there is no way anyone can ask them what’s going on, let alone go to the Discord as they have disabled the ability to invite people in the Discord

A legal issue sounds more probable than a financial one because there’s no point of shutting down or purging social media accounts due to lack of money.

A transfer of power at the internet’s biggest free anime porn site was supposed to finally make its copyright-infringing operations more legit. Instead, the takeover of Hentai Haven has spurred a civil war within the hentai community.
That conflict came to light yesterday after Hentai Haven’s anonymous founder, who goes by Papa HH, broke his silence after a seven-month absence. “Fakku has completely taken over and booted me out,” he wrote on the front page of the site, which is usually home to a happy medley of balloon-breasted anime girls.“Fakku played me like a cum-stained violin.”
Competing hentai site Fakku took on Hentai Haven last December along with all its legal liabilities. Papa HH wanted to wash his hands of it, fearing legal battles and other piracy dramas. Fakku’s founder, Jacob Grady, told Kotaku that Papa HH is misrepresenting what happened, with what he said have been dire consequences. His staff at Fakku is receiving death threats from furious hentai fans, he said, and he’s now worried about the future of both Fakku and the promising Hentai Haven asset that he acquired last December.
And yet, Grady added: “I fucked up. And God I wish I didn’t.”
The drama between Hentai Haven and Fakku goes back for years, and involves two polar-opposite hentai sites sharing one goal: to build the Netflix of Japanese animated porn. At its peak last year, Hentai Haven attracted enough traffic to sit among the top 1,000 websites in the United States. On average, 2.5 million people watched free anime porn videos on HentaiHaven.org every day. The other, Fakku, is a boutique operation focusing mainly on hentai comics, not videos. Users pay to read the manga on a subscription basis.

HentaiHaven is free, but its videos are hosted without the consent of their creators. Fakku costs money, but creators get paid. At stake in the war between the two sites’ fan bases is the future of Japanese cartoon porn in the West, and whether the bulk of it will wind up as part of a site that’s better known for paying creators but that also might require its users to pay, too.
Since its founding in 2014, Hentai Haven has been offering Japanese artists’ wares at no cost and making ad money off the plentiful page views. In fact, Hentai Haven’s founder told Kotaku that, at peak, the site was earning him $1,000 to $2,000 a day from advertising, very little of which he paid out to the site’s part-time workers. Below-board and piracy-fueled, Hentai Haven was popular among fans but, predictably, not among hentai publishers, who had not yet found legitimate footing in the U.S.
“I was frustrated with the lack of quality hentai websites and lack of English subtitles,” Papa HH told Kotaku . “Piracy is almost always a question of availability. So I decided to start my own fansubbing site that would release English translations to new hentai releases that were out in Japan. That’s how it started.”
In 2016, Papa HH reached out to the owner of Fakku, which also used to subsist off pirated content before going legit in 2015. The two shared the goal of making a super-popular U.S. subscription service for hentai, and discussed it on and off for years. Then, things took a turn.
“Honestly, it was me being kind of pissed,” said Fakku founder Jacob Grady of his decision to appropriate Hentai Haven. “If you search for ‘hentai’ on Google, Hentai Haven is the first thing,” he said, even though
