I uploaded a series of files that I created specifically to use as background images for upcoming renders. The current batch of photos that I am posting is from a trip I recently took to Patagonia and Atacama in Chile. As I composed and took pictures during the trip, I thought about what would be useful as source images for backgrounds and Cyclorama textures. With that in mind, I took a bunch of empty landscape shots, along with the usual tourist pictures I have of myself and my traveling companions. Tonight I picked out the files that I consider the best candidates to use as source images for other projects and re-named them for future reference. The pictures are specifically designed to be cropped or re-sized as needed, which I will certainly be doing as I use them to make textures. A quick note: I wasn't planning to log on today, but I have been making some changes to the current picture series I am working on. I deleted several recently-posted images, after having re-rendered them due to the addition of a fourth back-up dancer to my group. Initially I decided to make the change because I felt that the symmetry in the images worked better with four dancers instead of three. There will be a few changes in the plot-line as well and hopefully an improved set of renders.

I came across a DA profile that was opened a few days ago and featured hundreds of images that obviously came from various commercial websites. My reaction was: "come-on, seriously?" A lot of the images still had their vendor watermarks, so we are not talking about anything other than blatant image theft. I am not a big DRM advocate, but such blatant posting of material that is obviously copy-right protected is a threat to the rest of us who are trying to simply express ourselves online. The abuse offers puritans a great justification for imposing more censorship and leads to situations like what happened to Tumblr, where a "let's just delete everything" mentality took hold. I consider that posting older images that are public domain and have historical value is perfectly acceptable. Posting anything that is not yet public domain is clearly not acceptable. I decided to jump ahead a bit in the lives of the characters from my novel "The Outsider" and re-visit them when they are in their early 30's. I started formulating the original novel and its protagonist Ruthie Burns in 2008-2009, and recently speculated about what would have happened to the novel's main characters with the passing of 15 years. As is common with the way I create fiction and story series, one thought led to another, and I ended up with Ruthie abandoning artistic modeling and "going off the grid" to pursue her earlier goal of being a paleontologist. I am also experimenting with an updated plot-line for Ruthie's cousin Vicky, with a twist that abruptly came to me and that I want to play around with. As of mid-December 2021, I have a vague idea of where Vicky's sub-plot is going, but the details of this idea will be subject to change until I have the pictures rendered and the captions written. I left a couple of other projects hanging as this new one came to me.

Alt.Sex.Stories Text Repository , the server that hosts my fiction website, is currently off-line. It looks like their server crashed about three days ago. ASSTR has gone off-line before, so I am hoping it might come back after a few days, or possibly a couple of weeks at the most. If not, then my fiction website, the one that almost every picture I have posted in DA is linked to, is gone as well.
My website is the one spot on the Internet where I have had complete control over how I present my work, so losing it would be a major set-back in my artistic endeavors. However, losing the website would not be the end of my fiction, because I do have my novels posted elsewhere. ASSTR has had a history of server problems since 2018. From what I understand by reading authors' forums, their administrators attempted to migrate servers about three years ago, and it went really, really badly for them. Most authors have not been able to access ASSTR through the normal log-in process and the only way to get in is through FTP protocol, which is something I have been doing since last June. But now ASSTR is totally off-line, and if the problem is not fixed, then Literotica.com will become the new "go-to" location for people interested in reading my novels.
