However unlike the i7+ or other top-rated robots we evaluated the i3+ does not have a feature for avoiding obstacles which means it can be stuck on things like power cords or socks, and it can have difficulty traversing transitions across surfaces, such as from hardwood to carpet.
iRobot recommends you clear out areas in which the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, and include putting away any toys or clutter it might encounter. It's also a good idea to keep the dust bin and filter clean so that they don't become clogged with dirt. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is filled or the battery is low, it returns to its docking station, automatically emptying its debris into the station's dust bin and continues cleaning the area where it left off. In our tests, the i7+ was more agile and faster than our top choice which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surface types including carpeting. Its main advantage over the eufy, though, is its self-emptying dustbin, which removes a major source of maintenance and lowers the amount of time spent cleaning.
We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning sessions, move itself around the room, and even vacuum the area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. After being connected, to speak commands to the i7+ for example "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom."
