1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO
The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is an excellent alternative for those who want a an automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but are willing to manually empty the dust bin after it has filled up.
Both robots excel at picking up surface debris off carpets and hard floors, and they are very good in getting around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates a smart map of your home to aid the i3+ in its navigation and clean up efficiently. The i3+ isn't able to feature obstacle avoidance features like the i7+ or other top-rated robots that we test. It could get stuck on power cords and socks and have trouble moving between surfaces, such as rug and hardwood.
iRobot suggests that you clean up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes putting away any toys or clutter it might come across. It's also a good idea to keep the dustbin and filter clean so they don't become clogged with dirt. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station and empties the dirt into the station's external dustbin. Then it continues cleaning where it started. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for about an hour and a half of continuous use. It takes about three hours to fully recharge.
2. Roomba from iRobot
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line, and it has the most up-to-date features. It's self-charging, self-navigating and the most important feature of all -- it has self-emptying bins that eliminate one of the most important sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba i7+ can keep up to 10 floor plans and their names using Imprint Smart Mapping, which allows it to create maps of rooms so that it can clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning jobs, and you can direct your robot using the app or voice.
The i7+ is faster and more maneuverable in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from any surface including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy, is its self-emptying dustbin which removes a major source of maintenance and reduces recurring costs.
We were also impressed by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning sessions and move around the room and sweep a specific space. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and easy with the iRobot Home app. We were able, once connected, to voice commands to the i7+, like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10

The model also comes with an accessory dock that can charge to 100% in about 3.5 hours and provides easy access to two attachments and an clip for a wand. This is a major improvement over older Dysons that require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.
The main drawback of the V10 is its short run time. Its marketing claims that it can last up to 60 minutes of running time are not true as CR's tests have shown. This is an average, not an exceptional, time to run an electric cordless vacuum powered by batteries. It's enough time to vacuum the typical home but not enough to reach every area. (A second run is usually sufficient). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than earlier Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is noticeably superior on low-pile floor carpet.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
One of iRobot's most adored robot vacuums the 694 is a basic model that's a good option for those who don't wish to spend too much on a robotic. It's capable of sucking up all debris types and sizes during our tests, and it often passes over the same areas many times to ensure a thorough clean. Its flat front allows it to reach the corners and edges of walls.
Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt technology to stay clear of obstacles and help you navigate your home. It's not equipped with the ability to map that is found in more advanced models, like our top picks, i3+EVO and J7+ Series. Because of this, it may get stuck on things like phone cords and furniture that isn't as sturdy, and frequently is power-depleted before returning to its base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694, as it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning, is outfitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower costs for recurring expenses, is more sophisticated in its automation capabilities and can better maneuver itself. The app offers a variety of options to personalize your robotic cleaner, such as virtual barriers, mopping water levels and behavior modification docking frequency settings and much more. It's easy to understand and user-friendly, as is the case with other Samsung devices.
In our tests our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and dealt with dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86% of it. However, it did not do particularly well in avoiding higher-up objects like cords or socks, which was disappointing. It's also a bit more expensive than the other models we tried and could be a problem for some shoppers.
The app allows you to access the camera onboard of the smart vacuum. You can also create live streaming from the robot's cleaning area. This feature allows you to monitor your pets or the kids if you're away from home. The dustbin and filter can be cleaned to make cleanup quick and easy. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with an automatic clean station which helps keep the robot's bin clear and optimizes suction power.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Black and Decker robots are designed specifically for flooring made of hard wood. They come with a wide cleaning path and a larger dustbin that holds 2X more debris than the competition to keep the area clear for maximum runtime. Plus, they include two side sweepers that clean around edges and corners. The POWERSERIES model includes AutoSense that automatically adjusts the power level based on whether it is cleaning up surface dirt or embedded dirt. It also has a smart app that lets you view the virtual map and manage the functions and schedules. You can also check the vacuum's status and send it to the dock for charging at the click of a button. The app also allows you to customize the LED lights on top of the vacuum with different colors, so that you can easily identify which areas it's focused on or where it's stuck.
The application also allows you to steer the robot manually in the event of need. For instance my living room rug has a darkly colored border that has a tendency to make it difficult for other robots I've tested. The HRV 425BL however was able to continue to move across the border, without notifying the high point. The ability to create weekly cleaning schedules is a great time-saving convenience.
