Oprah Winfrey did a show whereby all the black african american men who were married were having sex with men on the side and the black men were saying they weren't gay because they were married?
What does being *on the down low* mean?
For a white or black man: it is a man that has sex with men and no one else knows (except his partners) so he lives a straight life but when the doors close he is poking someone from behind..
I must stress, it is not only black men, it is all men.. black, white, asian, japanese, indian.. ALL
It used to mean to keep a low profile. Now it means when a black guy pretends to be straight, when he's actually bisexual, and while in a relatioship with women, they have sex with men secretly.
The reason why those guys say they're not gay is because they're bisexual and seriously in the closet. In black culture, to be gay pretty much means your going to be shot, stabbed, and stomped and if not that, you definitly won't be seen with any respect at all. So they play the closet game.
Some black guys get respect even after it being well known that he screws guys. Like in jail for example. They can simply say they have sex with dudes to humiliate them, when in actuality, it takes some level of sexual turn on to get a hard enough erection for long enough to have sex. I simply don't buy the whole, "they only have sex in jail because no women are around". Thats a load of garbage.
This all gives all straight black men who aren't the stereotypical hardcore manly black guy a bad name because most black women assume your gay. And most black guys assume your effeminent. There's a lot of messed up cultural and especially sexual and gender issues going on in black culture.

I once read something about black men who have sex with men will say they're straight so as not to attract attention to the fact that they are in the category of HIGH-PROBABILITY OF STD INFECTION, since most STD infection in America is within the black and hispanic races.
These men were probably married in order to score more MSM sex. Logic: The married gay guy looks more stable and less likely to be barebacking every night in the clubs, and thus less likely to be infected--a safer sex partner. And also, the married gay guy probably turns it into a fantasy "Oh, my god--I've never felt this way about a man before." (kinda like that scene from "Airplane!")

I have no freaking idea. I know a black guy who said he isn't gay because he screws men, but they don't screw him. I say they all are in denial.

On the down-low, or on the DL, refers to information that’s kept quiet or under wraps. It emerges in Black slang by the 1990s. Both down and low underscore the slang’s sense of “quiet” and “hushed.”
Since at least the early 2000s, down-low refers to men who secretly have sex (on the down low) with other men. It’s historically used of urban Black men who otherwise present as heterosexual, often married and with children, in a culture where homosexuality has been stigmatized.
One can use down-low in general contexts for information that’s kept secret, discreet, or private (e.g., Keep this on the down-low, but I lost my job).
If a person is on the down-low, that means they are keeping a low profile and staying out of the public eye.
Down-low, however, is very frequently used to talk about Black men who secretly or discreetly engage in sex with each other. The 2007 TV show The DL Chronicles followed men of color leading secret sex lives—and also showcases that down-low is frequently abbreviated as DL.
