Wedding planning: the important things at a glance
Planning a wedding - it sounds stressful at first. But it really doesn't have to be.
How far in advance should wedding planning start?
Usually, preparations need to start 1 year before the wedding. However, if a couple wants to choose a large number of beautiful locations and set a specific date in one of the summer months, then they should start planning their wedding a year and a half to two years in advance. This does not mean, however, that planning has to be ongoing: once the wedding location has been found and the most important service providers have been booked, it is time to take your time with everything else. The time of year is also important: from October to March there are plenty of events to choose from, even at short notice.
What mistakes do couples often make?
Many people underestimate the time and effort required to plan a wedding. This taints the anticipation of the final weeks into worrying about whether everything can really be done before the big day. After all, it's always the pre-wedding period that is the most stressful.
Many couples also don't realize how important it is to communicate with service providers before the wedding. Photographers, DJs or venue operators can't read minds. And even if they all do: the more specific the couple's expressed desires, the more professional everyone's job will be. I will give my clients a lot of guidance on what they need to discuss with whom and to what extent.
Finding the perfect wedding location alone is often difficult...
Before starting the search, work together to determine the style desired (modern, rustic, oceanic ......) , and get an idea of the approximate number of guests, which will be helpful. Other important criteria include lodging options, wedding theme or budget. As a wedding planner, I have a good knowledge of various locations. This saves the bride and groom a long internet search and various viewing appointments. Your instincts will often tell you if this is the perfect location. The bride and groom should feel comfortable and be able to visualize the wedding at this location.
What should the invitations include and when should they be mailed?
Invitations should be sent out as soon as the date is set and the location is booked.
