Wear Butt Plug
Medically Reviewed by Dan Brennan, MD on June 27, 2021
A butt plug is a sex toy that goes in the anus. They are usually shaped like a cone, starting narrow and getting wider before narrowing again. Butt plugs also have a wide base to prevent the toy from going in too far.
Unlike many other sexual toys, such as dildos, a butt plug is meant to remain in place during sexual play.
A butt plug can be used to stimulate the anus to prepare for sex. This is because the tip of the plug is close to the female g-spot and the prostate, the male g-spot.
The anus has a lot of nerve endings, and is near both the male and female g-spots. It is common to stimulate the anus for sexual pleasure.
People with prostates enjoy butt plugs because they stimulate the gland, potentially leading to a prostate orgasm. Even if one doesn't occur, most still report that it feels good. There are butt plugs that are specially shaped to reach the prostate.
People with vaginas also enjoy butt plugs. Wearing one during penetrative vaginal sex can simulate double penetration—getting penetrated in the anus and vagina at the same time.
People who enjoy anal sex use butt plugs to warm up the anus before sex. They may also masturbate using a butt plug when they are by themselves to enhance the experience.
Butt plugs can also be part of dominance and submission games.
When trying anal toys, always use something with a flared base. Your anus can suck things in and a flared base prevents that. A large ring or pull cord is also acceptable for safety.
Since the anus does not self lubricate like the vagina, always use plenty of lubrication. The anus and rectum are delicate. Lubrication helps to prevent tears and soreness, and it usually makes anal play feel more pleasurable.
If you use a silicone toy, use a water-based lube. Silicone lube can make silicone toys degrade faster.
Sex toys made from porous materials may not be body-safe. The sex toy industry is not regulated, despite the fact that these items go inside your body. Any toy that is made from plastic or acrylic may leech harmful chemicals into your anus. Additionally, these materials are porous. They can't be fully sanitized and bacteria may grow on them.
The safest materials for butt plugs are silicone, Pyrex glass, and stainless steel. These materials are non-porous—they can be sanitized and disinfected between uses.
Start slow. Anal play is often more enjoyable when you are relaxed. If you are tense, an anal tear may occur. Pay attention to how you are feeling. If something hurts a lot or doesn't feel right, slow down or stop.
Start with something smaller than the butt plug. A finger is usually a great tool for warm up. If you don't want to spread bacteria from the anus to other parts of the body, or you want to keep your hands clean, wear a disposable latex or nitrile glove. Put lube on your finger and rub the rim of the anus gently before inserting your finger. Once you fit a finger or two in there comfortably, move on to inserting the butt plug.
Experiment with different positions for butt plug insertion to find out which one is best for you. Each person is different and will find different positions most comfortable based on their specific anatomy.
Some people use numbing creams to avoid discomfort during anal play. However, this will prevent you from feeling when your body wants you to stop. For your safety, avoid using numbing cream when using a butt plug.
Even if your anus is clean, it can still harbor bacteria that can cause infections in the vagina. After you touch the anus, make sure to wash your hands before touching other genitals. Wash with warm water and soap to prevent UTIs and yeast infections .
Most silicone toys can go in the dishwasher as long as they don't have a motor in them. This kills bacteria . Boiling glass, silicone, and stainless steel toys will also disinfect them. Make sure to do this before sharing a toy with a partner. Even if you only use the toy on yourself, disinfect it periodically to stay clean and healthy.

To find the best all day butt plug, you need to keep quite a bit of things in mind to have the most comfortable long term wear enjoyable experience. Read on:
Butt plugs are one of the most discreet ways to get some pleasure while you’re doing your regular activities.
Whether it’s going to work, shopping, or just doing chores around the house, doing it while wearing a butt plug is a great way to keep your motor running until you have time to let off the tension.
But for ALL-DAY use, you need the right tools for the job.
So today, we’re looking at the 12 best butt plugs for all-day wear. (If you’re looking for all purpose butt plug guide we have that too).
You can leave these babies in for hours.
If you crave that so much you can’t even wait till the end of this list, here’s the Top 3.
My top pick is the B-Vibe Snug Plug 1 . This treasure will fit your body comfortably thanks to its unique design and long, flexible neck. But it has edges and weight for added stimulation all day!
The SquarePeg Blunt Plug might sound a bit harsh, but it’s like giving your butt a memory foam pillow. It’s incredibly squishy but retains its shape once inside, so you get that full feeling without any hard edges or poking at all. Stretching with minimal effort? Yes please!
The Blush Luxe Wearable is the best for beginners thanks to its small rounded egg shape and wide anchor base. It holds lube nicely for easy removal. And the long neck relative to the bulb means it’s not going anywhere all day. Plus, it’s affordable!
You might think that a rounded, softer-looking butt plug would be the best choice for extended wear.
But here comes the Snug Plug to prove you wrong.
Its innovative torpedo shape looks pointy and hard, but that’s a good thing.
The pointed tip makes it super easy to insert, and the contours fit your internal canal while adding some extra stimulation.
What’s more, it has a long, thin neck that the sphincter can relax around , keeping things comfy around the ring so the rest of your butt can enjoy being filled.
The t-base is wide and thin , so it sits perfectly between your butt cheeks and doesn’t stick out under your clothes, keeping things nice and stealthy.
It’s heavier than you might expect for its tiny size, thanks to the added weight inside. The extra heft makes internal movement feel more intense and pleasurable.
The silicone material isn’t ultra-soft like some of the other plugs on this list, but that makes it more stimulating while still being… snug. Hence the name, I guess.
And if you like the Snug Plug 1 but wish it was a little bigger, good news! There’s a whole range of Snug Plugs from 1 to 6.
The largest is 2.2 inches in diameter and weighs about a pound, so even the most demanding of butts should be satisfied.
If you want the anal equivalent of reclining on a chaise-lounge while servants feed you peeled grapes and chocolates all day, then the Blunt Plug was made for you.
It’s not as stimulating as the B-Vibe above, but it’s so soft and full-feeling it’s like your favorite pillow. If you put your favorite pillow in your butt, I guess.
And if you’re planning on wearing tight clothes, you might want to reconsider because the Blunt Plug’s base will stick out noticeably.
So how does it work? It’s malleable and compresses as you insert it but then expands back to its original shape once it gets past the sphincter for that happy, filled feeling.
It comes in 11 sizes, ranging from “small and adorable” to “wow you must have trained like an Olympian to even consider that!”
The smaller 6 sizes are best suited for long-term wear, while the big ones are for serious stretch training that you should do in private.
But they all have thick necks that make them perfect for anal training in style and comfort.
No experience with all-day butt plugs? No sweat, the Blush Luxe Wearable is here for you.
It comes in two sizes, small and medium, which share the same simple but effective design.
It has a long, bendy neck that keeps it in place and is great for the sphincter to relax around comfortably .
The long neck does mean it’s a bit more of a hassle to insert. Just hold the bottom of the bulb and push gently , letting your body do the work. It’s not that hard.
The Blush Luxe Wearable also has a weighted ball-bearing inside that’s supposed to deliver “motion-activated vibrations” from the ball moving around inside.
It feels good during sex or if you’re on the treadmill, but if you’re just walking around you can’t really notice much.
Still, it’s small, silky-smooth, and very well designed , so it’s perfect for all-day wear even if it’s your first time.
Oxballs Ergo looks wide and fat, but it’s made of soft and pliable silicone that compresses to fit you.
The curled bean-shaped bulb aligns nicely with your internal canal so it’s supremely ergonomic in design.
It’s easy to insert – just put it on a flat surface and lower yourself down onto it.
It has a wide, flat base that’s safe to wear all day , but also squishes between your butt cheeks to stay comfortable and discreet .
One thing that many butt plugs struggle with is sitting positions, like if you’re at your computer.
Hard pointy ends and edges can cause discomfort if you don’t move around a lot.
But the Ergo is so gentle that you won’t get any poking or prodding where you don’t want it.
Ergo, it’s the best plug for taking to the office if you feel like making work a little NSFW…
The A-play is a standard shaped butt plug that’s smooth and has a good balance between soft and firm, so it’s good to wear for several hours.
But the fun part is that it vibrates.
The vibrations are rumbly, but so quiet .
Once it’s inside there’s no way anyone outside is gonna hear the vibration even on higher settings. Well, maybe if you’re in a library.
The remote control has just one button that cycles through the vibe functions. It has a range of about 15 feet – awesome for a romantic dinner date with a side of kinky fun.
The rechargeable battery lasts for about an hour on a full charge, so don’t expect it to vibrate all day. Save the charge for more special moments.
Sure there are stronger butt plugs out there, but few combine power, quietness, and comfort in one plug like the A-play does.

Most metal plugs aren’t suited for long-term use.
They’re hard, inflexible, and impossible to ignore – sexy, but impractical if you’re walking around.
The NJoy Pure Plug is the best solution for a metal plug .
It’s ergonomically shaped to fit the natural curve of your anal passage, so it’s easier to leave in.
And it has a thin neck for your hole to relax around with no problems.
The only downside is the base. It’s a ring shape which is great for insertion and removal but makes it impossible to sit down comfortably for longer than a few minutes.
Still, if you want that addictive feeling of hard metal inside you all day , this is your best bet.
20 bucks doesn’t get you a lot these days, but it will get you all-day anal fun.
The Mood Naughty is a simple plug with a tapered body and a long neck for convenient extended wear .
The wide t-base keeps things safe. Maybe a bit too safe? The width means the edges might poke the balls (if you have those).
But at this price, who am I to complain?
Look how pretty! Avant always makes the cutest things to go in the butthole.
The size difference between the neck and the bulb isn’t the biggest, so more seasoned anal adventurers might find it slips out too easily if you’re doing activities.
But if you’re a beginner who wants a cheap long-term plug that’s also a fashion statement, the P6 was made for you.
If you can get your pinkie finger in your butt, you can get the Perfect Plug in there.
It’s only ¾ of an inch at its widest point, so it’ll even work for anal virgins !
The Perfect Plug has a thin neck and equally thin t-base that snuggles between the cheeks like it was MADE to be there.
And it has another bulb underneath the main one that makes thrusting with it more fun when playing alone or with a partner.
It’s a bit too long for extended use if you’re sitting down, but if you’re moving around with it this really might be the perfect plug.

Wanna stretch while you’re on the go?
Somehow it seems to stay lubed up for longer than some of the other toys, which is awesome for wearing all day or even overnight.
It’s made of the same satin-finish silicone as the Tantus Perfect Plug, but it has a fuller bulb and thicker neck for that filling sensation.
The thick neck stretches your sphincter so it’s good for anal training.
Probably not good for newbies since the neck doesn’t allow the butt hole to rest, but it’s a good step up for discreet outdoor stretching.
You want a plug that’s going to stay securely inside you, of course.
But you also want to feel a little movement to keep yourself stimulated.
This Luxe set offers both. The neck widens out towards the base instead of cutting off at a right angle.
Having a butt plug that moves a bit while you go about your business keeps things interesting all day.
Incredibly hot once you get used to the feeling.
The widening neck means as you move around it will slide a bit and keep you on your toes.
It has that long, flexible neck that ensure it will stay in place , so you still don’t have to worry about it traveling too far.

Comfortable Larger All-Day Butt Plug
The Pipedream Anal Fantasy looks like just another ordinary butt plug.
And yet there’s something about the shape of the bulb that just hits perfectly.
Something about the curve, or the taper, or the neck to bulb ratio , I really don’t know. I want to hire a mathematician to figure out if it follows the golden ratio or something.
Anyways, it’s pretty fat, has a nice base, and is gonna feel amazing if you wear it for five minutes or five hours .
Just keep it lubed up regularly as the silicone seems to dry up the lube a bit faster than some other plugs.
As we mentioned earlier, your best butt plug choice should tick 3 main boxes:
Let’s look at why, plus a few more considerations for your butt plug shopping trip.
The thin neck is essential because it causes less friction to the delicate skin inside your anus.
So, it’s safer but it’s also more comfortable.
Letting your butthole relax around a skinny neck means you can wear your butt plug for longer.
Well, a flat, wide base has a few benefits:
When it comes to the diameter of the plug – think of the width of the toy you can already handle and move in 0.25” increments from there. That way you can stretch safely.
Silicone is always our material of choice when it comes to sex toys, but in this case, there is one extra consideration. Go for SOFT and FLEXIBLE silicone.
Because some silicone toys are firmer than others. But for long-term ass wear, you need it to be flexible enough to move with your body throughout the day.
Sure, you can find butt plugs in metal, ceramic, and glass (even the inflatable butt plugs are popular nowadays). They may tick the first two boxes of the thin neck and the flat, wide base…but these materials are NOT FLEXIBLE.
They do not move with your body and they are NOT safe nor comfortable for all-day wear.
What about plastic or PVC butt plugs?
These are highly porous materials and can’t be sanitized. You’re sticking this up your butt remember. So keep it clean!
While silicone lube is ideal for anal play, as it’s thick and lasts longer, it might not be the best option for your all-day butt plug-wearing.
Silicone lube can break down the material and ruin your butt plug.
Instead, go for oil-based or water-based lubricant and reapply throughout the day.
Oil-based lubes are thicker and won’t dry up as quickly, but they can be a little messy. Ever spill cooking oil on your shirt? Nightmare to wash out. The same happens with oil-based lubes.
Water-based lubes are compatible with any type of toy material AND they won’t stain your clothes. I like Sliquid Silk as it is a water and silicone blend that is safe to use, yet lasts for a long time.
