Q: Why Element?
A: With Element we can host everything on our own servers, meaning there is no higher authority to take down our chats and straight up kill our vibe.
Q: Is it safe?
A: It is much safer than Telegram and all DMs between people are encrypted. However, Public chats are still not encrypted (for ease of use) and even if they were you should still never reveal personal information about yourself in there.
Q: How can I avoid getting scammed?
A: Everyone has tags in their names, for example:
✅ @supremeleader:admin.tess.ht <--- this is an admin
❌ @supremeleader:user.tess.ht <--- this is a user
✅ @supremeleader:vendor.tess.ht <--- this is a vendor
Only trust usernames that end in :admin.tess.ht or :vendor.tess.ht, anyone with a user tag is just another person who signed up like you did - they could be anyone, potentially a scammer or a fed. Admins & Vendors will still never message first & never ask for money.
Q: Can we speak more freely now that nobody will shut down the chats?
A: Yes but guns/porn/bombs/etc are still not to be discussed as they attract unwanted attention. Stick to harm reduction discussion about drugs.
Q: Will there be bots on here?
A: Not yet, matrix does allow bots but they are not as safe as we would like them to be.
